Movers in Georgetown, TX: Local and Long-Distance Moving

Georgetown Movers

Georgetown is the seat of Williamson County, about 30 miles north of downtown Austin on I-35, and it carries the name of George Washington Glasscock, who gave the land for the town in 1848. The 2020 census counted 67,176 people here; the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate is 106,907, which puts Georgetown among the fastest-growing cities in Texas. Many of the newcomers are retirees bound for Sun City, and many others are families who work in Round Rock or Austin. If you are comparing licensed movers in Georgetown, TX, look first at who will actually carry your things. Condor Moving Systems is a woman-owned mover that has used its own trucks and its own employees on every job since 2003. We handle moves inside Georgetown, moves between Georgetown and the rest of the Austin area, and long-distance moves from Georgetown to other Texas cities and other states.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

Georgetown movers: how a local move is priced

A local move in Georgetown is billed hourly, from $175 an hour for two movers and a truck. There is a four-hour minimum that includes labor and a trip charge, which we figure case by case when we quote, the same terms as on our Austin movers page. Every job runs on a binding estimate, written before move day, that shows the crew size, the truck and the total. On the morning of the move the foreman walks the home with you before anything goes on the truck. If items have been added since the survey, he writes a revised estimate and you sign it before work starts. What changes a Georgetown price most is the number of heavy pieces, the distance from the truck to the door, and whether packing is done when the crew arrives. A two-bedroom patio home in Sun City is a very different job from a four-bedroom house in Wolf Ranch with a full garage.

Sun City and moves for retirees

Sun City Texas is a Del Webb community for residents 55 and older, spread over about 4,750 acres on the northwest side of Georgetown. At build-out it is planned for roughly 10,550 homes and about 18,500 residents, and three golf courses (Legacy Hills, White Wing and Cowan Creek) run through it. A lot of the moves we plan here are downsizing moves: a long-time family house in Dallas, Houston or another state goes down to a single-story home, and only part of the furniture comes along.

  • Decide early what goes. Measure the rooms in the new home and tell us which pieces make the trip. A smaller inventory means a smaller estimate.
  • Gate and HOA rules. Send us the community's rules on trucks and parking, along with any access instructions, a few days before the move.
  • Golf cars and narrow streets. Residents get around in golf cars, and many streets curve and dead-end. We note where a 26-foot truck can park during the survey.

Our senior movers page explains how we plan a move for an older parent, including working with family members who live out of town.

Old Town, the square and Southwestern University

Downtown Georgetown is built around the 1911 Williamson County Courthouse. The courthouse historic district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and in 1997 Georgetown became the first Texas city named a national Main Street City. The streets around the square hold Victorian houses with tall ceilings, steep stairs and porches that a piece of furniture has to clear on its way in. In April the Red Poppy Festival fills the square, since Georgetown is the official Red Poppy Capital of Texas, so check the city calendar before you choose a moving date near downtown.

A few blocks east is Southwestern University, founded in 1840 and the oldest university in Texas. Faculty and staff moves around campus often run on the academic calendar, and late summer books early.

Wolf Ranch, west Georgetown and new construction

The land west of I-35 sits on the Balcones Escarpment, where the flat Blackland Prairie gives way to hilly limestone country. That is where Wolf Ranch, Berry Creek and many of the newest subdivisions are, around SH 29 and toward Lake Georgetown. East of the interstate, new neighborhoods keep opening along SH 130. A lot of Georgetown moves end at a house that was finished a few weeks earlier, and builder closing dates slip. If yours does, we can load on the planned date and hold your shipment in storage at our Fort Worth or Houston location until you get the keys. On a new house we walk the route from the driveway to each room with you first, so the crew knows where every box goes.

Packing, crating and storage for a Georgetown move

Every Georgetown move includes careful loading, padding and taking apart and putting back together bed frames and other bolted furniture. We don't take apart particleboard or flat-pack pieces. Packing is an add-on with its own price: the whole home, only the kitchen and the china, or a few rooms you would rather not deal with. Framed art, mirrors and glass tabletops can be crated. See our packing and crating and moving and storage pages for the details.

Office moves and job relocations in Georgetown

Williamson County government, Georgetown ISD and the city itself are some of the larger employers in Georgetown, and many residents work in Round Rock and north Austin. For corporate relocation, we bill employers and relocation management companies directly, so the employee does not have to pay first and wait for a refund. We move offices on evenings and weekends for an extra charge, and we tell you that charge when you book. Our office movers and corporate relocation pages explain how we plan both kinds of move.

Long-distance moves from Georgetown

Condor holds its own interstate authority. The crew that loads your Georgetown home drives the truck and unloads it at the other end; no broker sells your move to someone else. How a long-distance move from Georgetown works:

  1. Out-of-state moves are priced by volume. An out-of-state move is priced by the cubic feet of your shipment, starting at $1,200, and the binding estimate comes from a room-by-room inventory.
  2. Moves inside Texas stay hourly. A move from Georgetown to Houston, San Antonio or Dallas–Fort Worth is billed by the hour on a binding estimate.
  3. You get a delivery window. Your shipment may share a trailer, so we give you a range of delivery dates. If the new home isn't ready, storage in transit holds it.
  4. Common Georgetown routes. Retirees and families move between Georgetown and Florida, South Carolina, Michigan and Arizona. Our long-distance movers page lists every route.

Each interstate move runs under USDOT 1126171 and MC-458180, and you receive the federal booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move with your estimate.
