Delivery Window to New Hampshire

Your shipment to New Hampshire is scheduled for delivery within 1 to 21 business days of the first day you can accept it. New Hampshire is one of our New England states, which carry the longer window.

  • Load date: guaranteed by Condor.
  • Delivery date: inside the window, or on a single guaranteed day for an additional charge.
  • Gap between homes: covered by storage in transit, held at our Fort Worth or Houston location.
  • First few nights: pack a car bag with sheets, chargers, toiletries and paperwork.

Dedicated next-day delivery is limited to destinations within about 8 hours of driving, which rules it out for New Hampshire.

What Comes With Every New Hampshire Move

  1. Disassembly of beds, tables, desks and other furniture that has to come apart to travel.
  2. Moving pads wrapped around each furniture piece.
  3. A numbered inventory, with a tag on every item and a list you sign before the truck leaves Texas.
  4. Placement of furniture and boxes in the rooms you pick at your New Hampshire home.
  5. Reassembly of whatever the crew took apart.
  6. One consultant who handles your move from the first call to the last box.
  7. Released value protection, the basic level federal rules require, at 60 cents per pound per article. It's moving coverage rather than insurance. Full value replacement can be bought through Baker International; Condor doesn't sell it directly.

Packing isn't part of the base price. Boxing kitchens, closets, books and garage shelves is an add-on on every move. You can have us pack everything, pack only the fragile rooms, or do it all yourself.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

Taxes and Town Hall

New Hampshire has no general sales tax and doesn't tax wages, which feels familiar to Texans. Property taxes are relatively high, much like in Texas, and they're set by each town.

New Hampshire does a lot through town and city clerks. Vehicle registration starts at the town or city clerk's office, where you pay the local portion of the fees, and many towns use a transfer station rather than curbside trash pickup; you may need a permit sticker. Call your town hall early in your first week.

Texas to New Hampshire

From Dallas-Fort Worth, loads usually take I-30 and I-40 to Tennessee, I-81 north through Virginia and Pennsylvania, I-84 through New York and Connecticut, and then I-90 and I-495 or I-91 and I-89 into New Hampshire. Manchester, Nashua and Concord sit along I-93 and the Everett Turnpike, and Portsmouth is on I-95 near the Maine line. Trucks don't use the Merritt Parkway or the other Connecticut and New York parkways, which ban commercial vehicles, so loads stay on I-95, I-84 and I-91. Houston departures follow I-10 east and I-59 and I-75 north.

New Hampshire Mileage by Origin

Dallas to Manchester is about 1,790 miles, roughly 33 hours of driving. Houston is about 1,870 miles away. Austin runs about 1,985 miles, and San Antonio about 2,065. Keene and Hanover in the west are the closest, about 1,790 to 1,800 miles from Fort Worth, reached on I-91. Portsmouth and Dover on the Seacoast are about 1,845 to 1,850 miles.

New Hampshire Move Pricing

Condor prices every long-distance move by the cubic foot. The survey measures how much truck space your household needs, and the per-cubic-foot rate already covers the haul from Texas to New Hampshire; distance isn't billed separately. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.

Because size drives the total, these help most:

  • Older New England capes and colonials have smaller rooms and steep stairs; measure.
  • Sell bulky outdoor furniture you won't use in winter.
  • Pack books and clothing yourself; leave fragile rooms to the crew.

Other lines that can appear: packing and materials, crating, stairs or elevators, a shuttle truck, storage in transit, extra coverage and a guaranteed delivery date.

A binding number

The estimate you sign is binding. Add or drop items after the survey and the foreman writes up the change on moving day, before the crew loads, for you to approve first. There is no surprise total after delivery.

The survey

We quote from a video survey on Zoom, from a phone call with your list of furniture and boxes (you sign a written survey waiver to make a phone quote binding), or, inside the Dallas-Fort Worth area only, from an in-person visit.

Frost Heaves, Winter and Back Roads

New Hampshire roads take a beating every winter. Frost heaves, the bumps that rise as the ground freezes and thaws, are common on back roads in late winter and spring, and many towns post weight limits on gravel roads in mud season. If your new home is on a rural road, a full-size truck may not be allowed on it in spring. We may use a smaller shuttle truck, which is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.

In winter, keep the driveway plowed and sanded. Lakes Region and White Mountains homes often sit on steep, narrow drives that are hard to reach in snow.

Pease, Colleges and Utilities

Pease Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth is home to a refueling wing, and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is just across the river in Kittery, Maine. For military households, Condor handles PPM moves, retirement moves and government-arranged shipments. Certified weight tickets come with military moves only.

The University of New Hampshire in Durham and Dartmouth College in Hanover hire faculty and staff each year, and Dartmouth Health is a major employer in the Upper Valley.

Eversource serves most of the state, with Unitil, Liberty Utilities and the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative in other areas. Many homes use propane or heating oil.

Preparing for a New Hampshire Delivery

Southern New Hampshire towns such as Bedford, Windham, Londonderry and Hollis have many newer homes with long driveways, while Manchester and Nashua have older mill-era neighborhoods with multi-family houses and steep stairs. Portsmouth's downtown streets are narrow and parking is tight. Send photos and any HOA or building rules to your consultant.

Fall foliage season brings heavy traffic to the Lakes Region and White Mountains, and summer beach traffic does the same on Route 101 to the seacoast. Pick a weekday delivery if you can.

Booking With Condor

Give us at least two weeks' notice for a New Hampshire move; earlier is better in summer. Call during office hours, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM CT. If your employer or a relocation company is paying, we bill them directly.

Choosing a New Hampshire Town

Most Texans moving to New Hampshire settle in the southern tier, close to jobs in Boston and along the I-93 and Route 3 corridors. Bedford, Windham, Londonderry, Amherst, Hollis and Bow have strong schools and larger homes. Manchester and Nashua have older neighborhoods with multi-family houses, along with apartments and condos.

On the Seacoast, Portsmouth, Rye, Exeter and Durham are popular but pricey, and Dover and Rochester offer more affordable options nearby. Concord, the capital, is smaller and quieter. The Lakes Region, around Lake Winnipesaukee, has many seasonal homes, and the North Country is very rural. Hanover and Lebanon in the Upper Valley are built around Dartmouth and its hospital. Since New Hampshire has no sales or wage tax, property taxes fund most local services, so compare tax rates town by town before you buy.

Registering in New Hampshire

New Hampshire gives new residents 60 days to get a New Hampshire driver's license and to register their vehicles. Registration begins at your town or city clerk's office; the license is handled at a DMV office. See the New Hampshire DMV new-resident page.

New Hampshire requires an annual vehicle inspection. Register to vote with your town or city clerk; you can also register at the polls on Election Day with proof of residency.

Before delivery, ask the town clerk about transfer station permits and trash rules, set up your electric company and heating fuel, and find out who plows the driveway in winter.
