Packing is always an add-on at Condor. Our crew can box the entire house (a full pack) or only certain rooms, like the kitchen and the garage (a partial pack). Everything you box yourself is fine too, as long as cartons are sealed and labeled.

Which Way Does the Truck Go?
There are two common routes, and which one your shipment takes depends on your Nebraska address.
To Lincoln, Grand Island, Kearney and central Nebraska: I-35 north through Oklahoma to Wichita, then I-135 and US-81 north across Kansas to I-80 at York.
To Omaha, Bellevue and Papillion: I-35 north to Kansas City, then I-29 up the Missouri River valley to Council Bluffs and across the river.

How Long Until My Things Get to Nebraska?

- Zoom video survey (our most popular option): Walk your consultant through the house on your phone, opening closets and the garage as you go.
- Phone quote: Fine if you can give an accurate furniture list and count of boxes. For a binding phone quote with no video or in-person survey, you sign a written waiver of the survey.

What's Different About Living in Nebraska?
Omaha and Lincoln game days
Lincoln changes on Nebraska football Saturdays. Memorial Stadium holds roughly the population of a small city, and downtown streets near campus fill hours before kickoff. In Omaha, the College World Series takes over the area around Charles Schwab Field for about ten days each June. If you're delivering near either, pick a different day.
Offutt Air Force Base
Offutt, next to Bellevue just south of Omaha, is home to U.S. Strategic Command and the 55th Wing. Deliveries on base need gate access arranged ahead of time with crew and truck details, and most military households in the area live off base in Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista and south Omaha. Certified weight tickets are something we provide only for military moves that need them; no other move goes across a scale. Our military work includes PPM moves (you set up the move and are reimbursed by the government), retiree moves and shipments arranged by the government.
Blizzards on I-80
Winter on the plains brings wind as much as snow. I-80 between Lincoln and North Platte can close in blowing snow, and ground blizzards can return even after snow has stopped falling. We watch the forecast before dispatch and hold a shipment rather than drive into a closure. Spring and early summer bring severe thunderstorms, hail and tornado warnings, so keep some flex in your delivery window.
Houses with basements
Like most of the Midwest, Nebraska homes usually have basements, often finished. Tell us during the survey what's going downstairs so the crew is sized for it.
University move weeks
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Creighton and the University of Nebraska Omaha all pack apartment move-ins into August. Book those weeks early, or move just before or after.
Setting Up Utilities in Nebraska
Nebraska is the only state where every home and business gets its electricity from a public power utility rather than an investor-owned company. In Omaha that's the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD), and natural gas and water come from the Metropolitan Utilities District (MUD). In Lincoln, electricity comes from Lincoln Electric System (LES). Much of the rest of the state is served by the Nebraska Public Power District or a local public power system. Call ahead to have service on in your name before the truck arrives; unloading after dark without lights is slow.
Older Omaha, Newer Suburbs
Omaha's older neighborhoods, like Dundee, Benson and Field Club, have two-story homes from the early 1900s with steep staircases, narrow front walks and garages off back alleys. Furniture that came out of a Texas ranch house easily can be a tight fit up those stairs. Measure your largest pieces against the doorways and stair landings on the new house before the survey, if you can.
Most new construction is to the west and south, in Elkhorn, Gretna, Papillion and southwest Lincoln, where you'll find wider streets, attached garages and HOA rules about trucks and trailers. Ask your HOA how long a moving truck can park on the street.
Ranches and Small Towns West of Kearney
West of Kearney, I-80 follows the Platte River valley, and many homes are on acreages or ranches miles from pavement. A full-size truck needs firm footing, room to turn and clearance under trees and lines. Send a map pin and photos of the drive and yard so we can decide in advance whether a shuttle truck is needed.

The First Month After You Arrive
Nebraska is strict about timing. New residents have 30 days to get a Nebraska driver's license, and 30 days to title and register their vehicles at the county motor vehicle office. Bring your Texas title, your latest registration and proof of insurance. In Lancaster County, the sheriff checks the vehicle's VIN as part of the process. Check your county's website for current rules.

Do you charge by the hour for a Nebraska move?
No. Hourly pricing is for local moves. A move to Nebraska is priced per cubic foot, and the route is already in the rate. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.
Can I get a price without someone walking through my house?
Yes. A Zoom survey is the most common way. A phone quote works if you can list your furniture and box count accurately. We also do in-person surveys in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Is packing part of the price?
No. Packing your belongings into boxes is an add-on. You can choose a full pack or a partial pack, or pack yourself.
Will you put my bed frame back together?
Yes. Basic disassembly and reassembly of furniture comes standard on every move.
Can you deliver to a farm or ranch property?
Often. Send photos and a map pin of the drive with your quote request. If a full-size truck can't safely get in, a shuttle may be needed. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
Who helps me if something arrives damaged?
