Texas to Colorado Movers
The trip from Texas to Colorado is mostly uphill. Fort Worth sits around 650 feet above sea level; Denver is at 5,280, and the route north climbs steadily across the Panhandle before crossing into Colorado. Most of our Colorado deliveries land on the Front Range, the strip of cities from Pueblo through Colorado Springs and Denver up to Fort Collins, with fewer heading over the mountains. Condor Moving Systems has moved Texans out of state since 2003. We use our own trucks and our own crews, work from our locations in Fort Worth and Houston, and pick up anywhere in Texas.

Six Things to Know Up Front
- Pricing is per cubic foot. The trip to Colorado is already in your rate. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.
- Estimates are binding. That is the only type of estimate we give, and it is in writing.
- Delivery takes 1 to 10 business days, counted from your first available delivery day.
- Your pickup date is guaranteed. Delivery on an exact date can be guaranteed for an extra charge.
- Furniture disassembly and reassembly are included.
- Packing is not. It's an add-on, full or partial.
Included With Your Colorado Move
Our crews take apart beds, tables and other furniture that needs it before loading, and reassemble it at your Colorado home. Each piece is padded with moving blankets. Every item carries a numbered tag that ties to an inventory you sign when the truck is loaded and check when it's unloaded. Furniture goes into the rooms you choose. One consultant stays with you from the survey to delivery day.
Released value protection comes with every interstate move; it's the minimum coverage under federal rules and pays 60 cents per pound per article. It's the carrier's basic liability, moving coverage rather than insurance. If you want full value replacement, it's available through Baker International; Condor doesn't sell it directly. More on coverage.
Boxing up your belongings is extra. Dishes, clothing, decorations, garage and attic items are packed only if you add a full or partial pack.
Trusted by Texas Families Since 2003
Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.Thomas C Davison
Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!Denis Tanney
These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!Marks Josephine
Up Through the Panhandle and Over Raton Pass
From DFW, the most direct route follows US-287 northwest through Wichita Falls and Childress to Amarillo, then on to Dumas. From there it crosses the corner of New Mexico and reaches I-25 at Raton. I-25 climbs over Raton Pass, at 7,834 feet on the New Mexico–Colorado line, and descends to Trinidad, Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Denver. Raton Pass can get snow from fall into spring, so it's one of the spots we watch before a winter dispatch.
From Houston, Austin and San Antonio, trucks usually work north through Central Texas to join the same Panhandle route.

Every Colorado city is well past an 8-hour drive from Fort Worth or Houston, so next-day delivery doesn't apply. Next-day delivery is available on dedicated trucks for destinations within about an 8-hour drive.
How We Price a Move to Colorado
Condor prices long-distance moves by volume. Your survey works out how many cubic feet of truck space your household needs, and that times your rate is the transportation charge, with the trip to Colorado already included. There's no separate line for distance.
Your binding estimate will also show any of these that apply:
- Packing, full or partial, and the materials for it
- Crates for glass, art or stone
- Extra handling for stairs, elevators or a long carry from the curb
- A shuttle truck for a mountain home a full-size truck can't reach (charged in addition to your estimate, from $450)
- Storage in transit
- Extra coverage
- A guaranteed delivery date
When the inventory changes after your survey, our foreman revises the estimate in writing before anything is loaded, and nothing goes on the truck until you approve it.
Survey options: Zoom video is our most popular; a phone quote is possible if you can give an accurate furniture list and box count (for a binding phone quote with no survey, you sign a written waiver of the survey); in-person surveys are available in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Snow in Spring, and the Mountains
March is Denver's snowiest month on average. A spring storm can drop a foot of wet snow on the Front Range and be gone two days later, so leave a little flex in a March or April move. Colorado's sun melts things fast, but clear the driveway and walks before the crew arrives.
Mountain moves are a different job. On I-70 between Dotsero and Morrison, Colorado's chain law requires commercial trucks to carry chains from September 1 through May 31, and passenger vehicles face traction-law rules in storms. Steep, winding driveways in places like Evergreen, Conifer, Summit County and Steamboat may not be reachable by a full-size truck. If your new home is in the mountains, tell us early and send photos of the road and driveway. We deliver anywhere in Colorado, mountain towns included.
Altitude and Your Belongings
Moving from near sea level to a mile up or more affects a few things. Sealed liquids and some aerosol cans can leak as pressure changes, so tape the caps or leave them behind. Paint, propane and other flammables can't ride on the truck anyway. Wood furniture and instruments, including pianos and guitars, may need a few weeks to adjust to Colorado's dry air. Drink more water than you think you need on moving day; altitude and low humidity dehydrate people fast.
The Front Range, City by City
Denver metro. Older neighborhoods like Washington Park, Highland and Capitol Hill have tight stairways, narrow streets and limited parking; many new suburbs have HOAs and metro districts with their own move-in rules. Downtown and Cherry Creek condo buildings typically need a reserved elevator and a certificate of insurance.
Colorado Springs. Home to Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base and the U.S. Air Force Academy. On-base deliveries need gate access arranged in advance. When a military move needs certified weight tickets, Condor can provide them; we weigh trucks only on military moves. Buckley Space Force Base is in Aurora, on the Denver side. Our military work includes PPM moves (you set up the move and are reimbursed by the government), retiree moves and shipments arranged by the government.
Boulder and Fort Collins. CU Boulder and Colorado State move students in during mid-to-late August, and the streets around campus fill with trucks and trailers. Boulder parking near the university is very limited, so plan the date with care.
Pueblo and Trinidad. The closest Colorado cities to Texas, and usually easy truck access.
Wildfire Country
Many foothill and mountain homes sit in the wildland-urban interface, where forest and grassland meet neighborhoods. In December 2021, the Marshall Fire burned more than a thousand homes in Louisville, Superior and nearby unincorporated Boulder County. In dry summers, fire restrictions and closures can affect forest roads. If you're moving to the foothills, keep your delivery window flexible during fire season, and ask your insurer about wildfire coverage before closing.
Hail Season on the Front Range
The Front Range is one of the most hail-prone areas in the country, and the season usually runs from May through August, with storms building in the afternoon. A summer move goes best in the morning. Once you're settled, park inside if you have a garage. If you're bringing a car or boat that will sit outside, ask your insurer about hail coverage before you arrive.
Utilities, Radon and Setting Up the House
Xcel Energy provides electricity and gas to much of the Denver metro. Colorado Springs Utilities, a city-owned utility, supplies power, gas and water in Colorado Springs. Fort Collins has its own city utility as well. Start service before delivery day.
Colorado's health department recommends that homes be tested for radon, a natural gas that comes up from the soil, and elevated levels are common across the state. If you're buying, ask whether the home has been tested or has a mitigation system.
Dry Air Takes Getting Used To
Front Range humidity is often below 20 percent. Plan on a humidifier for bedrooms and any room with a piano, guitars or fine wood furniture, at least for the first winter.

Registering Your Car in Colorado

Moving to Colorado: Questions
Is Raton Pass a problem in winter?
It can be. We watch the forecast and road reports before dispatch, and a truck will wait out a storm rather than drive into one. Your delivery window allows for that.
Can you deliver to a mountain town like Breckenridge or Evergreen?
Often, but access is the question. Send photos and a map pin. If a full-size truck can't safely reach the house, a shuttle may be needed. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
How long does delivery to Denver take?
1 to 10 business days from your first available delivery day. A guaranteed delivery date costs extra.
What does a Texas to Colorado move cost?
It's based on the cubic feet of your shipment, with the trip included. Long-distance moves start at $1,200, and add-ons are listed separately.
Do I have to box everything myself?
You can, or you can add packing. It's never included in the base move.
Does my shipment go over a truck scale?
No, except on military moves that need weight tickets.
What if something is damaged?
We help with claims after the move. Start at our file a claim page. You have 9 months from delivery to file.
