Movers in Sugar Land, TX: Local and Long-Distance Moving

Sugar Land Movers

Sugar Land got its name from the Imperial Sugar refinery, which began operating here in 1908 and ran the place as a company town until the city incorporated in 1959. It is now the largest city in Fort Bend County, about 19 miles southwest of downtown Houston where SH 6 crosses I-69. Missouri City sits right next door, partly in Harris County, and the two share roads, shopping and the Fort Bend ISD map. Condor Moving Systems is a woman-owned mover that serves Fort Bend from our Houston location, and since 2003 our own employees have driven our own trucks on every job. We move families within Sugar Land and Missouri City, across the Houston area, and from Fort Bend to other Texas cities and other states.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

Sugar Land moving rates

A local move in Sugar Land is billed by the hour: two movers and a truck start at $175 an hour. The four-hour minimum includes three hours of labor and a one-hour trip charge. You get a binding estimate before move day that lists the crew, the truck and the price. Before loading, the foreman goes over the inventory with you. If something new has been added, you sign a revised estimate first. What moves the number most in Fort Bend is the size of the house, stairs, and whether you are moving from a house into a townhome or apartment with a long carry.

Sugar Land neighborhoods

Most of Sugar Land is planned communities, each with its own rules and layout:

  • First Colony. One of the city's largest communities, with a mix of older two-story homes and townhomes around Sugar Land Town Square.
  • Telfair and Riverstone. Newer communities on the south side of the city, where HOA rules often cover truck parking and start times.
  • Greatwood, New Territory and Sugar Creek. Established communities, some with gated sections. Give us the gate code or the guard contact ahead of time.

Apartments and condos near Town Square and Smart Financial Centre usually require a reserved elevator or loading area and a certificate of insurance. Ask your property manager for the requirements, and we will send the certificate before move day.

Missouri City: Quail Valley, Lake Olympia and Sienna

Missouri City had 74,259 residents at the 2020 census and is one of the few Houston suburbs that has used zoning since 1981. Quail Valley grew up around its golf course and has many of the city's older homes, and Lake Olympia is built around a chain of lakes. Riverstone crosses the city line from Sugar Land, and Sienna, just to the south, keeps adding new homes. The Fort Bend Toll Road, Beltway 8 and US 90A all run through the city, and the route we choose depends on the time of day. For new construction in Sienna or Riverstone, the move date usually depends on the builder's final walkthrough. If that slips, we can store your things until closing.

Relocating for work

Sugar Land and Missouri City sit between the Energy Corridor, the Westchase office district and the Texas Medical Center, so many households here move because of a new job or a transfer. When an employer pays, we bill employers and relocation management companies directly and coordinate dates and paperwork with the move manager your company assigns. Our corporate relocation page covers group moves for companies.

Packing, storage and office moves

Every move includes padding and wrapping, plus taking apart and reassembling beds, tables and other bolted pieces. Particleboard furniture isn't taken apart. Packing is an add-on with its own price, and we crate glass tops, marble, mirrors and artwork. If there's a gap between moving out and moving in, we can store everything at our Fort Worth or Houston location, billed monthly. We move offices on evenings and weekends for an extra charge, and we tell you that charge when you book. See our packing and crating, moving and storage and office movers pages.

Long-distance moves from Sugar Land

Condor has its own interstate authority, which means we do not broker your move to another company. The crew that loads your truck in Fort Bend also delivers it.

Out-of-state moves are priced by the cubic feet of the shipment and start at $1,200, on a binding estimate. Moves within Texas, whether to Austin, San Antonio or Dallas–Fort Worth, are billed by the hour. Long-distance shipments arrive within a delivery window, and storage in transit is available if your new place is not ready. Sugar Land families often move to New York, New Jersey, California and Illinois. Every route we run is on our long-distance movers page.

With every interstate estimate, we include the federal booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move.
