Texas to Wisconsin Movers
Fort Worth to Milwaukee is about 1,045 road miles, and Houston to Green Bay is closer to 1,285. Whether you're heading to a lakefront job in Milwaukee, the university in Madison or the Fox Valley, Condor Moving Systems can get you there. We've moved Texans to other states since 2003, using our own trucks and our own crews from Fort Worth and Houston. We pick up anywhere in Texas and deliver throughout Wisconsin.

Plan for a 1–21 Business-Day Delivery Window
Standard delivery to Wisconsin takes 1 to 21 business days. The clock starts on the first date you tell us you're able to receive the shipment, not the day we load. Wisconsin is scheduled with the northern states, so it carries the longer window.
We guarantee the pickup date. If a closing, a lease or a first day at work means you need the truck on one specific day at your Wisconsin address, ask for a guaranteed delivery date; it's an extra charge, and many people decide it's worth it. If the opposite problem comes up and your new place isn't ready, storage in transit keeps everything on its original inventory until you call for delivery.
Wisconsin is well beyond the roughly 8-hour drive that our dedicated next-day service covers, so the standard window applies to every move on this route.
Every Wisconsin Move Includes
- Furniture prep. The crew disassembles what has to come apart in your Texas house.
- Padding. Every piece of furniture is blanket-wrapped for the trip.
- Inventory. Each item gets a numbered tag, and you sign the inventory list before departure.
- Delivery and setup. Items go into the rooms you name, and anything we took apart gets reassembled.
- A consultant of your own, start to finish.
- Basic coverage. Released value protection pays 60 cents per pound per article; it is required by federal rules and is not insurance. Full value replacement is available through Baker International, not from Condor.
Packing is extra on every move. Pick a full pack, a partial pack for breakables, or pack it all yourself.
Trusted by Texas Families Since 2003
Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.
Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!
These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!
Madison Lease Turnover and Moving Season
Madison has one of the busiest rental move-out days in the country. Most leases near the UW campus turn over in mid-August, and streets downtown and around the isthmus fill with moving trucks, couches on the curb and closed lanes. If your move lands near that date, book early, expect tight parking and plan your arrival for the morning.
Milwaukee and the Fox Valley see the same seasonal rhythm, just less concentrated. Late spring through early fall is the busy season, and winter moves give more choice of dates, but you'll need sidewalks and driveways clear of snow and ice.
The Route North
From Dallas-Fort Worth, Wisconsin loads typically run northeast on I-44 through Tulsa and Springfield, Missouri, to St. Louis, then north on I-55 to the Chicago area and around the city on the I-294 tollway before taking I-94 to Milwaukee. Madison is reached on I-39 and I-90. Western Wisconsin towns like La Crosse and Eau Claire are often reached through Iowa or Minnesota instead. Houston loads start up I-45.

Lanes From Houston and Central Texas
Dallas is about 1,000 miles from Milwaukee. Houston loads, about 1,170 miles to Milwaukee, often head north through Texarkana and Little Rock to St. Louis. Austin and San Antonio trucks, 1,200 to 1,290 miles out, follow I-35 through Dallas before taking US-75 or I-44 north. Green Bay and Appleton are about 120 and 90 miles north of Milwaukee on I-41. La Crosse and Eau Claire in the west are usually reached through Iowa on US-52 and I-90 or through the Twin Cities.
Wisconsin Move Pricing
A Wisconsin move is priced per cubic foot, meaning the space your belongings take up on our truck. Your rate for the route already includes the miles, so there's no extra line for distance. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.
Ways to bring the cubic feet down:
- Older Milwaukee duplexes and Madison flats have narrow stairs; measure big pieces first.
- Sell the Texas patio set if your new yard will be under snow for four months.
- Pack books and closets yourself and let the crew pack fragile items.
Your estimate may also list packing, boxes, crates, stair or elevator carries, a shuttle, storage in transit, Baker coverage, or a guaranteed delivery date.
Why the estimate doesn't drift
Every estimate we write is binding. The only way it changes is if your shipment changes, and then the foreman puts the revision in writing before loading starts, and you sign off on it before anything is carried out.
Before the estimate
Your consultant needs to see or hear what's going. The easiest way is a Zoom walk-through. If you'd rather, give us a careful room-by-room list by phone and sign a survey waiver, and the quote can still be binding. In-person surveys happen in Dallas-Fort Worth only.
Old Houses and Upstairs Flats
Much of Milwaukee's housing is the classic two-flat or duplex, with separate upper and lower units and a long, steep stairway to the top floor. Madison's near east and west sides have older homes with similar stairs. These are great places to live, but the crew needs to know about them in advance. Show the stairway and the street on your video survey.
In spring, many Wisconsin counties post seasonal weight limits on local roads while the frost leaves the ground. A full-size truck may need a different route or a smaller shuttle truck for the last stretch to a rural home. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
Packers Sundays, Colleges and Military
In Green Bay, a home game at Lambeau Field fills the streets around the stadium; we avoid scheduling deliveries nearby on game days.
UW–Madison, UW–Milwaukee, Marquette and the UW campuses around the state hire faculty and staff every year. Fort McCoy, near Sparta, and Volk Field host Army and Air National Guard training. Military moves we handle include PPMs, where you arrange the move and get reimbursed, retiree moves and government-arranged shipments, with certified weight tickets when the move requires them. Civilian moves are priced by cubic foot and aren't weighed.
We Energies serves the Milwaukee area, Madison Gas and Electric serves much of Madison, and Alliant, Wisconsin Public Service and Xcel cover other parts of the state.
Winter Prep for a Wisconsin Delivery
Wisconsin winters bring lake-effect snow near Lake Michigan and hard freezes statewide. Between December and March, keep the walk to your door shoveled and salted, and move anything that can freeze, such as paint, cleaning liquids and houseplants, in your car. Many cities have alternate-side or snow-emergency parking bans in winter, so ask your new city about rules for the street in front of your house.
If you're moving into an apartment in Milwaukee's Third Ward or downtown Madison, reserve the elevator and loading dock and send us the building's certificate-of-insurance requirements a week before delivery.
Booking Your Wisconsin Move
Condor Moving Systems is a Woman-Owned moving company. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM CT, and we hold interstate authority under USDOT 1126171 and MC-458180, with TxDMV 006041428C for moves inside Texas.
- Book at least two weeks ahead. A long run to Wisconsin needs a truck and crew set aside, and more notice gives you more dates to pick from.
- Moving for work? We bill employers and relocation management companies directly, so your company can pay us without you fronting the cost.
Neighborhoods and Housing Types
In the Milwaukee area, Wauwatosa, Shorewood, Whitefish Bay and Bay View have older homes and walkable streets, while Brookfield, Mequon and New Berlin offer larger suburban lots. Kenosha and Racine draw commuters to both Milwaukee and northern Illinois. In Madison, the near east and west sides are full of older houses close to campus and the Capitol, and Middleton, Fitchburg, Verona and Sun Prairie have newer construction.
The Fox Valley, from Appleton through Neenah and Oshkosh, has plenty of single-family homes at lower prices than the big metros. Green Bay is a mix of older neighborhoods and new subdivisions on the edges. Up north and in the west, you'll find lake homes, cabins and farm properties, many on gravel roads. Many Wisconsin homes have full basements, which is where much of your storage will go, so measure the basement stairs before deciding which furniture to bring.

Getting Settled in Wisconsin
Wisconsin gives new residents 60 days to get a Wisconsin driver's license. Vehicles should be titled and plated once you become a resident. Several southeastern counties, including Milwaukee, require emissions testing for many vehicles. Start with the WisDOT new-resident page.
Wisconsin has a state income tax and a sales tax. Register to vote once you have your new address, and set up utilities, internet and trash pickup before the truck arrives. Many towns run their own trash and recycling schedules, and some require specific carts.

Common Wisconsin Questions
How long will my things take to reach Wisconsin?
The standard window is 1 to 21 business days from your first available delivery day. Wisconsin sits at the northern end of our Midwest schedule, so it is quoted with the longer window. A guaranteed delivery date is available for an additional charge.
Can you store my things before delivery in Wisconsin?
Yes, with storage in transit, held at our Fort Worth or Houston location. Your shipment keeps its original inventory. The first 30 days are free; after that it's billed monthly.
Can you move us into a Milwaukee upper flat?
Yes. Show the stairway on your survey so the crew knows how many flights and turns to plan for.
Will I see a mileage charge for Wisconsin?
No separate mileage line. Pricing is per cubic foot with the distance built in. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.
How do I report damage?
Go to our file a claim page. You have 9 months after delivery, and our team will support you through the process.
Could my estimate change?
Only when what you're moving changes. The revision is written up by the foreman before loading, and you sign off on it first.
Is disassembly extra?
No. Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly come with every move.
