What Shapes a Commercial Move
Moving in Texas presents logistical challenges that aren't always obvious when requesting a quote. Building restrictions, truck access, traffic, weather and distance from the truck to your door can all affect moving time. Here's what we consider when planning a Texas move.
Certificates of Insurance
Commercial buildings almost always require a COI naming the owner and the management company with specific limits, approved days ahead of the move. Buildings turn crews away over an incorrect certificate, so we handle this as soon as you send the requirements.
Freight Elevators & Dock Windows
Most office buildings reserve the freight elevator and the loading dock in fixed blocks, frequently restricted to evenings and weekends. Your move date is usually set by the window the building assigns rather than by the crew calendar.
After-Hours Scheduling
Evening, overnight and weekend moves are the norm for commercial work. Staff leave on Friday and come back to a working office, and the building gets its elevators back before Monday.
Workstation Systems
Panel systems, benching and height-adjustable desks are dismantled, labelled by component and rebuilt to the new floor plan. Rebuild time varies a great deal between manufacturers, so the system type matters when the job is quoted.

How much does an office move cost?

Can you move our office after hours or over a weekend?
Yes, and most commercial moves are scheduled that way. Working evenings, overnight or across a weekend means staff leave on Friday and return Monday to a working office. Many buildings also restrict freight elevator use to outside business hours, so the schedule is often set by the building rather than by preference.
Do you dismantle and reassemble cubicles and workstations?
Yes. Panel systems, benching, height-adjustable desks and modular storage are dismantled, labelled by component, transported and rebuilt to the new floor plan. Tell us the manufacturer and system type when you request your estimate, since rebuild time varies considerably between systems.
What about computers, servers and IT equipment?
Condor transports IT equipment and coordinates with your IT team or vendor on sequencing, but disconnection and reconnection of servers, network hardware and telephony is handled by your IT provider. Workstation machines are commonly packed into labelled crates so each one returns to the right desk.
Do you provide a certificate of insurance for our building?
Yes. Commercial buildings almost always require a certificate of insurance naming the building owner and the management company, with specific coverage limits, submitted and approved before the move date. Send us your building’s requirements as soon as you have them so the paperwork clears in advance.
How far in advance should we book an office move?
Four to eight weeks for most offices, and longer for anything above roughly fifty people or where workstations are being reconfigured. Freight elevator windows, dock reservations and building approvals are usually what set the earliest workable date, not the crew calendar.
Can you store furniture we are not moving yet?
Yes. Condor offers short and long-term storage, which is common on phased moves or where a new space is not finished. Furniture is inventoried and palletized so it can be released in stages rather than all at once.
