Texas to Maryland Movers
Maryland moves from Texas usually mean the Baltimore–Washington corridor, where federal jobs, military assignments and hospitals bring in people from everywhere. Fort Worth to Baltimore is about 1,400 road miles, and Fort Worth to Bethesda about 1,360. Condor Moving Systems has moved Texas households out of state since 2003, with our own trucks and our own crews. We load anywhere in Texas and deliver to Baltimore, Montgomery and Prince George's counties, Annapolis, Frederick, western Maryland and the Eastern Shore.

When Your Maryland Delivery Arrives
The standard delivery window from Texas to Maryland is 1 to 10 business days, and it begins on the first day you're available to receive. Maryland is on our 1 to 10 business-day schedule. Plenty of loads land early in the window; just don't build your plans around that.
What you can lock in: the pickup date, which we guarantee, and, if you add it for an extra charge, a guaranteed delivery date. What you can fall back on: storage in transit, so the truck doesn't have to wait on your closing. What you should carry with you: anything you'd need in the first week.
Because Maryland sits far past an 8-hour drive from Texas, next-day delivery on a dedicated truck isn't an option here.
Every Maryland Move Includes
Every Condor move to Maryland comes with these, at no added line on the estimate:
- Basic disassembly and reassembly of furniture
- Furniture pads on every piece
- Tagging and a written inventory you sign in Texas
- Unloading and placement room by room
- A dedicated consultant
- Released value protection: 60 cents per pound per article, the minimum federal rules call for. It's moving coverage and not insurance. If you want more, Full value replacement is offered through Baker International; Condor doesn't sell it in-house.
One thing that is never in the base price: packing. Full or partial packing is an add-on, or you can box everything yourself.
Bridges, Tunnels and Truck Restrictions
Since the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed in 2024, I-695 around the southeast side of Baltimore has had a gap while the bridge is rebuilt. Some hazardous loads that can't use the harbor tunnels have to take longer routes. Household goods generally use the tunnels, but traffic patterns around the port changed, and our drivers plan for them.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge to the Eastern Shore gets heavy summer traffic, and high winds can restrict trucks. We schedule Eastern Shore deliveries around both.
Trusted by Texas Families Since 2003
Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.
Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!
These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!
Texas to Maryland Routes
From Dallas-Fort Worth, Maryland loads usually take I-30 to Little Rock and I-40 into Tennessee, then follow I-81 up the Shenandoah Valley to Hagerstown, with I-70 leading into Frederick and Baltimore and I-270 into Montgomery County. Houston departures often head east on I-10 and I-12 through Louisiana and north on I-59 and I-75 to meet I-81.

From Each Texas Metro to Maryland
Dallas to Baltimore runs about 1,365 miles, around 25 hours of driving. From Houston, Baltimore is about 1,445 miles. Austin loads run around 1,560 miles and San Antonio about 1,640, both north on I-35 first. Hagerstown and Frederick are the closest Maryland cities, at about 1,345 miles from Fort Worth, because they sit where I-81 and I-70 meet. Salisbury, on the Eastern Shore, is about 1,475 miles away and is reached across the Bay Bridge or from Delaware.
Rowhouses, High-Rises and Elevators
Baltimore neighborhoods like Canton, Federal Hill and Fells Point are full of rowhouses on narrow streets, often with steep stairs and tight turns. In Bethesda, Silver Spring and Rockville, many people move into condos or apartment buildings with strict elevator reservations, move hours and certificate-of-insurance requirements. Send us the building's rules as soon as you have them.
When a full-size truck can't reach the door, we may move the shipment to a smaller truck for the last stretch. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
Pricing a Move to Maryland
Condor prices every long-distance move by the cubic foot. The survey measures how much truck space your household needs, and the per-cubic-foot rate already covers the haul from Texas to Maryland; distance isn't billed separately. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.
Because size drives the total, these help most:
- Baltimore rowhouses and Montgomery County condos have less room than a Texas house; measure first.
- Sell oversized furniture that won't fit a condo elevator.
- Pack books and closets yourself and have the crew pack the kitchen.
Other lines that can appear: packing and materials, crating, stairs or elevators, a shuttle truck, storage in transit, extra coverage and a guaranteed delivery date.
A binding number
The estimate you sign is binding. Add or drop items after the survey and the foreman writes up the change on moving day, before the crew loads, for you to approve first. There is no surprise total after delivery.
The survey
We quote from a video survey on Zoom, from a phone call with your list of furniture and boxes (you sign a written survey waiver to make a phone quote binding), or, inside the Dallas-Fort Worth area only, from an in-person visit.
Military and Federal Moves
Maryland has a long list of installations: Fort Meade, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Joint Base Andrews, the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Walter Reed in Bethesda and Fort Detrick in Frederick. Military moves we handle include PPMs, where you arrange the move and get reimbursed, retiree moves and government-arranged shipments, with certified weight tickets when the move requires them. Civilian moves are priced by cubic foot and aren't weighed.
For federal civilian employees and contractors whose employer or relocation company pays for the move, we bill them directly.
Utilities and Neighborhood Details
BGE serves Baltimore and central Maryland; Pepco serves Montgomery and Prince George's counties; Delmarva Power serves the Eastern Shore; Potomac Edison covers western Maryland and Frederick; and SMECO serves Southern Maryland. Maryland also lets customers choose an energy supplier.
Many Maryland suburbs have HOAs with rules on truck parking. In Annapolis, downtown streets are narrow and historic, and parking is tight. Send photos of the street and driveway so we can plan.
Booking With Condor
Give us at least two weeks' notice for a Maryland move; earlier is better in summer. Call during office hours, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM CT. If your employer or a relocation company is paying, we bill them directly.

Where People Settle in Maryland
Families moving for federal jobs often choose Montgomery County, including Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg and Potomac, or Howard County, including Columbia and Ellicott City, both known for strong public schools. Anne Arundel County, around Annapolis and Fort Meade, is popular with military families, and Frederick has grown quickly as a lower-cost option with access to I-270.
In Baltimore City, Canton, Federal Hill, Hampden and Roland Park have very different housing, from rowhouses to large older homes. Towson, Timonium and Bel Air are suburban options north of the city. Southern Maryland, around Lexington Park and Waldorf, is home to many families connected to Pax River. The Eastern Shore is quieter, with farm towns, waterfront homes and summer traffic near Ocean City. Western Maryland, around Hagerstown and Cumberland, has mountains, lower home prices and real winters.

Maryland MVA Steps
Maryland gives new residents 60 days to get a Maryland driver's license and to title and register their vehicles. Before titling, a vehicle must pass a Maryland safety inspection at a licensed station, and many counties also require emissions testing. See the MVA's new-resident guide.
Maryland has a state income tax plus county income taxes, and titling a vehicle carries an excise tax with credit for some tax paid elsewhere. Register to vote with the MVA when you get your license.
Before delivery, check whether your county or city requires a permit to park a moving truck on the street; Baltimore City and some Montgomery County communities do. Line up BGE, Pepco or your local utility, internet and trash service a week ahead, and if you live in a condo, confirm the elevator reservation in writing.
