Pennsylvania Delivery Timing

Your shipment to Pennsylvania is scheduled for delivery within 1 to 10 business days of the first day you can accept it. Pennsylvania is on our 1 to 10 business-day schedule.

  • Load date: guaranteed by Condor.
  • Delivery date: inside the window, or on a single guaranteed day for an additional charge.
  • Gap between homes: covered by storage in transit, held at our Fort Worth or Houston location.
  • First few nights: pack a car bag with sheets, chargers, toiletries and paperwork.

Dedicated next-day delivery is limited to destinations within about 8 hours of driving, which rules it out for Pennsylvania.

Rowhomes, Narrow Streets and Parking

Much of Philadelphia is rowhomes on narrow one-way streets, often with cars parked on both sides. A tractor-trailer may not fit on the block, and the city may require a temporary no-parking permit to hold space in front of the house. Plan that before delivery day; we'll talk through options on the survey, including a smaller shuttle truck. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.

Rowhome stairways are steep and narrow, and many have tight turns at the top. Show us the stairs and the front door on your video survey so the crew comes with the right tools and an accurate plan for large pieces.

Standard on Every Pennsylvania Move

Every Condor move to Pennsylvania comes with these, at no added line on the estimate:

  1. Basic disassembly and reassembly of furniture
  2. Furniture pads on every piece
  3. Tagging and a written inventory you sign in Texas
  4. Unloading and placement room by room
  5. A dedicated consultant
  6. Released value protection: 60 cents per pound per article, the minimum federal rules call for. It's moving coverage and not insurance. If you want more, Full value replacement is offered through Baker International; Condor doesn't sell it in-house.

One thing that is never in the base price: packing. Full or partial packing is an add-on, or you can box everything yourself.

Getting From Texas to Pennsylvania

Eastern Pennsylvania loads from Dallas-Fort Worth usually run I-30 to Little Rock and I-40 across Tennessee, then up the I-81 valley through Virginia into Harrisburg, with I-78 leading toward Allentown and I-76 or I-476 into the Philadelphia area. Pittsburgh is reached the other way, on I-71 through Ohio and I-70 or I-79 into western Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Turnpike connects the two ends. Houston departures often run I-10 and I-12 through Louisiana, then I-59 and I-75 up to I-81.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

Pittsburgh Hills and Steps

Pittsburgh is built on hills, and some streets are so steep the city maintains public stairways where roads would be. Many houses sit above the street with long sets of steps. Neighborhoods like Mount Washington, Polish Hill, Lawrenceville and the South Side Slopes can be tough for a large truck. Expect a longer carry or a shuttle, and send photos so we can plan.

Winter in western Pennsylvania brings snow and ice to those same hills. A delivery between December and March needs a clear walk and some flexibility on timing.

How Your Pennsylvania Move Is Priced

There's one base measure on a Condor interstate move: cubic feet. We work out how much room your shipment needs, and that volume at your route's rate is the transportation price, miles to Pennsylvania included. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.

Shrink the shipment, shrink the bill:

  • Philadelphia rowhomes and Pittsburgh houses are narrower than most Texas homes; measure sofas and dressers against the doors and stairs.
  • Sell large sectionals that won't make the turn on a rowhome stairway.
  • Pack books and clothes yourself; have the crew pack the kitchen and artwork.

Possible added lines are limited to things like packing and materials, crating, long carries or stairs, a shuttle truck, storage in transit, coverage and a guaranteed delivery date.

Your price is binding

We only write binding estimates. When the household you're moving grows or shrinks after the survey, the foreman updates the estimate on paper before loading, and you approve the new figure first.

How you get quoted

Most people choose a Zoom video survey and walk a consultant through the house on a phone. A phone quote works if you can give us an accurate furniture list and box count; a binding phone quote without a survey requires a signed survey waiver. In-person surveys are offered only in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Utilities and Choosing a Supplier

Like Texas, Pennsylvania lets most customers shop for their electricity supplier while the local utility delivers the power. The state's PA Power Switch site compares offers. PECO serves Philadelphia and its suburbs, PPL serves the Lehigh Valley and much of central and eastern Pennsylvania, Duquesne Light serves Pittsburgh, and FirstEnergy companies serve other areas. Gas, water and trash vary by town. Many Pennsylvania municipalities collect trash through the township or borough.

Penn State, Military Families and Employers

Penn State's main campus in State College draws faculty and staff each year, and home football Saturdays fill every road into town; we schedule around them. Carlisle Barracks, home of the Army War College, Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg, Tobyhanna Army Depot and Fort Indiantown Gap all bring military moves into the state. For military households, Condor handles PPM moves, retirement moves and government-arranged shipments. Certified weight tickets come with military moves only.

Booking Your Move

Reach our office Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM CT. We ask for at least two weeks between booking and pickup on a Pennsylvania move. For relocations paid by an employer, we can bill the company or its relocation management firm directly.

Condor Moving Systems is Woman-Owned and operates under USDOT 1126171, MC-458180 and TxDMV 006041428C.

Choosing a Pennsylvania Neighborhood

In the Philadelphia area, many families relocating for work look at the Main Line suburbs, including Bryn Mawr, Wayne and Ardmore, or at Chester, Bucks and Montgomery counties, where homes are larger and parking is easier. Inside the city, Center City, Fishtown, Rittenhouse and Manayunk have rowhomes, condos and apartments that need careful planning on moving day.

Pittsburgh's suburbs, such as Mount Lebanon, Upper St. Clair, Cranberry Township and Fox Chapel, have more space and easier truck access than the city's hillside neighborhoods. Central Pennsylvania offers smaller cities like Harrisburg, Lancaster and York with lower home prices, and the Lehigh Valley has grown quickly with warehouse and health care jobs. Lancaster County farm country has narrow roads and slow-moving buggies, so drivers plan for both. State College is mostly university-related housing and newer subdivisions on the edges of town.

Pennsylvania Title, Plates and License

Pennsylvania gives new residents 60 days to get a Pennsylvania driver's license, but only 20 days to title and register their vehicles, one of the shortest windows in the country. Vehicles also need an annual safety inspection, and many counties require emissions testing. See PennDOT Driver and Vehicle Services for the details.

Pennsylvania has a flat state income tax, and many municipalities and school districts add a local earned income tax; your employer will withhold it based on your address. Register to vote once you have your new license.

Before delivery, ask your township or borough how trash and recycling pickup works, since many contract with private haulers. In Philadelphia, a temporary no-parking permit can hold space for the truck; start that process early.

Texas to Pennsylvania FAQ

When will the truck get to Pennsylvania?

Within 1 to 10 business days of the first day you can accept delivery. Pennsylvania is on our standard schedule, well over an 8-hour drive from Texas. If timing is critical, a guaranteed delivery date can be added for an extra charge.

Is the distance to Pennsylvania billed separately?

No. The per-cubic-foot rate already includes the trip. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.

Do you offer storage?

Storage in transit, at our Fort Worth or Houston location. The first 30 days cost nothing; after that, storage is billed monthly.

Can a big truck get to a Philadelphia rowhome?

Sometimes. On narrow blocks, we may need a temporary parking permit or a shuttle truck. We plan it from your survey.

Do I need to take my furniture apart?

No. Basic disassembly and reassembly is included on every Condor move.

What if I add items after the survey?

The foreman writes up the change to your binding estimate before loading begins. Nothing is loaded until you approve it.

Is there a deadline for claims?

Yes: 9 months from delivery. Use our file a claim page, and our team will walk you through it.
