Texas to Ohio Movers
Ohio's three big metros are spread across the state, and the distance from Texas depends on which one you choose: about 965 road miles from Fort Worth to Cincinnati, 1,075 to Columbus and 1,215 to Cleveland. Condor Moving Systems has been moving Texans out of state since 2003, with our own trucks and our own crews from Fort Worth and Houston. We pick up anywhere in Texas and deliver throughout Ohio, from Toledo and Cleveland to Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus.

Your Ohio Delivery Window
The standard delivery window from Texas to Ohio is 1 to 10 business days, and it begins on the first day you're available to receive. Ohio is on our 1 to 10 business-day schedule. Plenty of loads land early in the window; just don't build your plans around that.
What you can lock in: the pickup date, which we guarantee, and, if you add it for an extra charge, a guaranteed delivery date. What you can fall back on: storage in transit, so the truck doesn't have to wait on your closing. What you should carry with you: anything you'd need in the first week.
Because Ohio sits far past an 8-hour drive from Texas, next-day delivery on a dedicated truck isn't an option here.
What Comes Standard
- Disassembly of beds, tables, desks and other furniture that has to come apart to travel.
- Moving pads wrapped around each furniture piece.
- A numbered inventory, with a tag on every item and a list you sign before the truck leaves Texas.
- Placement of furniture and boxes in the rooms you pick at your Ohio home.
- Reassembly of whatever the crew took apart.
- One consultant who handles your move from the first call to the last box.
- Released value protection, the basic level federal rules require, at 60 cents per pound per article. It's moving coverage rather than insurance. Full value replacement can be bought through Baker International; Condor doesn't sell it directly.
Packing isn't part of the base price. Boxing kitchens, closets, books and garage shelves is an add-on on every move. You can have us pack everything, pack only the fragile rooms, or do it all yourself.
Texas to Ohio by Interstate
Ohio loads from Dallas-Fort Worth typically run I-30 to Little Rock and I-40 east to Nashville, then I-65 north to Louisville and I-71 into Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland. Dayton is reached on I-75 north of Cincinnati, and Toledo continues up I-75. Youngstown and Akron sit along I-76 and I-80 in the northeast. Houston loads run northeast toward Texarkana and Little Rock to pick up the same corridor.

Ohio Lanes From Texas
Dallas to Columbus is about 1,040 miles, roughly 19 hours behind the wheel. Houston is about 1,155 miles from Columbus and 1,300 from Cleveland. Austin and San Antonio add another 80 to 160 miles because trucks first head north to Dallas. Cincinnati is the closest of the big three, about 930 miles from Dallas. Toledo and Northwest Ohio are often reached on I-75 from Dayton; Akron and Youngstown sit east of Cleveland near the Pennsylvania line, about 1,200 to 1,250 miles from Fort Worth.
Choosing Your Ohio Utilities
Ohio lets many households choose their electricity or natural gas supplier, while the local utility still delivers the energy. That's a lot like the deregulated parts of Texas. The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio publishes an "Apples to Apples" comparison chart of supplier offers.
The local delivery utility depends on your address: AEP Ohio serves Columbus and much of central and southern Ohio; Duke Energy serves Cincinnati; FirstEnergy companies serve Cleveland, Akron and Toledo; and AES Ohio serves Dayton. Set up service a week before the truck arrives so the lights are on when it does.
Trusted by Texas Families Since 2003
Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.
Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!
These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!
Pricing an Ohio Move
There's one base measure on a Condor interstate move: cubic feet. We work out how much room your shipment needs, and that volume at your route's rate is the transportation price, miles to Ohio included. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.
Shrink the shipment, shrink the bill:
- Older Ohio homes often have narrow basement stairs and smaller bedrooms; measure big pieces.
- Sell the extra fridge and heavy patio furniture before the survey.
- Pack books and closets yourself; leave fragile items to the crew.
Possible added lines are limited to things like packing and materials, crating, long carries or stairs, a shuttle truck, storage in transit, coverage and a guaranteed delivery date.
Your price is binding
We only write binding estimates. When the household you're moving grows or shrinks after the survey, the foreman updates the estimate on paper before loading, and you approve the new figure first.
How you get quoted
Most people choose a Zoom video survey and walk a consultant through the house on a phone. A phone quote works if you can give us an accurate furniture list and box count; a binding phone quote without a survey requires a signed survey waiver. In-person surveys are offered only in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Lake-Effect Snow and Older Homes
Northeast Ohio, east of Cleveland, is in a snowbelt where lake-effect snow can pile up quickly. If your move falls between December and March, keep the driveway clear and expect some flexibility on timing.
Cleveland Heights, Lakewood, Cincinnati's hillside neighborhoods and Columbus's German Village and Victorian Village have older homes with steep driveways, narrow streets and long stairways. A full-size truck may not fit, and we may use a smaller shuttle truck. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
Ohio State, Wright-Patterson and Other Employers
Ohio State is one of the largest universities in the country, and the streets around campus fill with rental moves each August. Home football Saturdays in the fall make Columbus traffic heavy near campus. Miami University, the University of Cincinnati, Ohio University and Case Western also hire from out of state.
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton is one of the largest single-site employers in Ohio. We do PPM moves (service member arranges, government reimburses), retiree moves and government-arranged shipments. If your orders call for certified weight tickets, we provide them; that's the only kind of move we weigh.
Preparing for an Ohio Delivery
Columbus suburbs such as Dublin, Westerville, New Albany and Powell have HOA rules on truck parking and move hours, and so do many newer neighborhoods around Cincinnati and Cleveland. Send them to your consultant. Downtown apartment buildings in all three cities usually require a reserved elevator, a loading dock window and a certificate of insurance.
Cincinnati is hillier than most Texans expect, with streets that climb steeply from the river; some don't suit a tractor-trailer. Let us see the street on your video survey. Carry anything that can't freeze in your own car in winter.
Scheduling and Paperwork
Reach our office Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM CT. We ask for at least two weeks between booking and pickup on a Ohio move. For relocations paid by an employer, we can bill the company or its relocation management firm directly.
Condor Moving Systems is Woman-Owned and operates under USDOT 1126171, MC-458180 and TxDMV 006041428C.
Housing Around Ohio's Big Three
Columbus is the fastest-growing big city in Ohio, and new subdivisions in Delaware County, New Albany and the areas around Intel's planned plant in Licking County add new homes every year. Older neighborhoods like Clintonville, Bexley and Upper Arlington have mature trees and smaller lots.
Around Cincinnati, Mason, West Chester and Loveland are popular with families, and the hilly city neighborhoods of Hyde Park, Mount Lookout and Clifton have older homes with steep driveways and stairs. Northern Kentucky suburbs are part of the same metro, which matters if you're comparing addresses on both sides of the river.
In Northeast Ohio, Cleveland's eastern and western suburbs, including Shaker Heights, Lakewood, Westlake, Solon and Hudson, offer everything from century-old homes to new builds. Dayton's suburbs, such as Beavercreek, Centerville and Kettering, are popular with Wright-Patterson families.

Ohio BMV in 30 Days
Ohio gives new residents 30 days to get an Ohio driver's license and to title and register their vehicles. An out-of-state vehicle needs a VIN inspection before titling; the title is issued by the county clerk of courts title office, and registration is done at a deputy registrar. Seven counties in northeast Ohio require E-Check emissions testing for many vehicles. Start with the Ohio BMV.
Ohio has a state income tax, and many cities and school districts levy their own income taxes, so check your new address. Register to vote after you settle in.

Ohio Move Questions
How long will my things take to reach Ohio?
The standard window is 1 to 10 business days from your first available delivery day. Ohio is on our standard schedule, about a 1,000-mile drive from Texas. A guaranteed delivery date is available for an additional charge.
Can you store my things before delivery in Ohio?
Yes, with storage in transit, held at our Fort Worth or Houston location. Your shipment keeps its original inventory. The first 30 days are free; after that it's billed monthly.
Can I choose my own electricity company in Ohio?
In many areas, yes. Ohio lets you pick a supplier while the local utility delivers. PUCO's Apples to Apples chart compares offers.
Will I see a mileage charge for Ohio?
No separate mileage line. Pricing is per cubic foot with the distance built in. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.
How do I report damage?
Go to our file a claim page. You have 9 months after delivery, and our team will support you through the process.

Only when what you're moving changes. The revision is written up by the foreman before loading, and you sign off on it first.
Is disassembly extra?
No. Basic furniture disassembly and reassembly come with every move.
