Movers in Conroe, TX: Local and Long-Distance Moving

Conroe Movers

Conroe started as a sawmill. Isaac Conroe, a Houston lumberman, built a mill in the pine woods north of the city in 1881, and the stop that grew up around it was first called Conroe's Switch. Lumber built the town, an oil field discovered in 1931 kept it going, and Interstate 45 later brought Houston commuters north. Conroe is now the seat of Montgomery County, about 40 miles north of downtown Houston. It was the fastest-growing large city in the country from 2015 to 2016, the 2020 census counted 89,956 residents, and the 2025 estimate is 119,564. Lake Conroe, Montgomery and Willis are next door. Condor Moving Systems is a woman-owned mover with a Houston location, and since 2003 every job has been done by our own employees in our own trucks. Our Conroe movers handle moves across Montgomery County, moves between Conroe and the rest of the Houston area, and long-distance moves to other Texas cities and other states.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

Conroe movers: how local moves are priced

Conroe moves are billed by the hour, from $175 an hour for two movers and a truck. There is a four-hour minimum that includes labor and a trip charge; we figure the trip charge case by case when we quote your Conroe-area address. Our Houston movers page covers the rest of the metro. You get a binding estimate before move day showing the crew size, the truck and the total. When the crew arrives, the foreman checks the inventory with you, and anything added goes on a revised estimate you sign before loading. A move from Conroe to The Woodlands, Spring or central Houston is hourly on the same kind of estimate.

Lake Conroe homes

Lake Conroe covers about 21,000 acres of the West Fork of the San Jacinto River, just west of I-45 off SH 105. It was finished in 1973 as a water supply for Houston, and most of the shoreline is outside the city, in unincorporated Montgomery County, with about 5,000 acres in the Sam Houston National Forest. Lake homes have their own challenges:

  • Driveways and gates. Gated communities such as April Sound and Walden on Lake Conroe need the truck on a guest list, and some lake lots have long or steep driveways. Send us photos so we can plan the truck.
  • Boathouses and outdoor furniture. Patio sets, grills and dock gear take time to load. Put them on the inventory so the estimate covers them.
  • Second homes. Many lake houses are second homes or vacation places, and moving one often means coordinating with a property manager. Tell us who will be on site.

Conroe, Montgomery and Willis

Inside Conroe, newer master-planned neighborhoods such as Grand Central Park sit next to older streets around the courthouse square downtown. Most of the city is in Conroe ISD, but small northern and western parts are in Willis ISD and Montgomery ISD, so check the district for any address. Montgomery, one of the oldest towns in the county, is west on SH 105 past the lake, and Willis is north on I-45. Montgomery County had 500-year floods in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and we won't take a loaded truck through high water, so on a stormy day we may adjust the timing and keep you posted.

Moving north from Houston

Many families move to Conroe for bigger lots and newer homes while keeping a job in The Woodlands or Houston. Others come for work, as hospitals, school districts and employers have followed the growth north along I-45. If your employer is paying, we bill employers and relocation management companies directly and work with your move manager on dates and paperwork. See our corporate relocation page for how we plan group moves.

Packing, storage and office moves in Conroe

Every move includes furniture pads and wrapping, plus taking apart and putting back together beds, tables and other bolted pieces. We don't take apart particleboard. Packing is an add-on priced separately, and we crate glass, stone and framed art. If closing on a new home is delayed, we can store your shipment at our Fort Worth or Houston location; storage is billed monthly. We move offices on evenings and weekends for an extra charge, and we tell you that charge when you book. See our packing and crating, moving and storage and office movers pages.
