Military & Government Report Dates
Norfolk, Langley, Quantico, Fort Belvoir and the Pentagon drive a large share of this lane, and report dates rarely move. Base deliveries need gate access arranged in advance — crew identification, vehicle details and sometimes an escort or visitor pass. Tell us the installation when you request your estimate so access is cleared beforehand.
Northern Virginia High-Rises
Arlington, Alexandria, Tysons, Reston and Ballston buildings require a certificate of insurance naming the building, a reserved service elevator and a booked loading dock window, often weekdays only. Send us the building requirements with your estimate request so the paperwork clears in advance.
Old Town Alexandria & Historic Streets
Old Town Alexandria, Richmond’s Fan District and Church Hill have narrow streets, cobblestones, no driveways and steep front steps. A full-size truck often cannot get close, so expect a curb stop, a longer carry and sometimes a shuttle from a staging point.
Beltway & I-95 Timing
The Capital Beltway, I-95 and I-66 can add hours to a Northern Virginia delivery if the timing is wrong, and HOV and express lane rules restrict some routes. Deliveries are scheduled around peak windows and the route is set when the move is quoted.
Hampton Roads Tunnels & Bridges
Getting into Norfolk, Virginia Beach and the Peninsula means tunnels and bridges with height, weight and hazardous-material restrictions, and closures back traffic up quickly. Routing is planned in advance rather than improvised on the day.
Coastal Storms & Mountain Winter
Hampton Roads is exposed to hurricanes and nor’easters from summer into autumn, while the I-81 corridor through the mountains sees ice and closures from December through March. Conditions are monitored ahead of your date and a shipment is held rather than run into either.
