Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.Thomas C Davison
Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!Denis Tanney

Moving Between Texas and Alabama Since 2003
Condor Moving Systems is a licensed interstate mover that handles household and office relocations between Texas and Alabama in both directions.
Alabama is a mid-length lane, running east on I-20 for Birmingham and Huntsville or along I-10 for Mobile and the coast. The north of the state and the Gulf Coast are quite different deliveries. Your shipment is inventoried and tagged at pickup, travels on our equipment, and is delivered by a crew working from that same inventory.
Condor operates from locations in Fort Worth and Houston and serves the entire state of Texas, running its own trucks and crews rather than subcontracted labor.

How Far Is It From Texas to Alabama?
A Texas to Alabama move covers roughly 550 to 900 miles depending on which Texas city you leave and whether you are heading for Mobile, Birmingham or Huntsville. Interstate moves are scheduled with a delivery spread rather than a single guaranteed date, because a trailer carries more than one household. Your estimate states the window for your specific route and dates.
| Route | Approx. driving distance | Main corridor |
|---|---|---|
| Houston → Mobile | 560 miles | I-10 east |
| Dallas–Fort Worth → Birmingham | 650 miles | I-20 east |
| Houston → Birmingham | 680 miles | US 59 / I-20 |
| Dallas–Fort Worth → Huntsville | 700 miles | I-30 to I-565 |
| Houston → Huntsville, AL | 760 miles | US 59 / I-565 |
| Austin → Birmingham | 800 miles | I-10 to I-20 |
| San Antonio → Mobile | 740 miles | I-10 east |
| Dallas–Fort Worth → Montgomery | 740 miles | I-20 to I-65 |
Distances are approximate driving miles and will vary with routing, weather and road conditions. Transit time is quoted per shipment.
How Much Does It Cost to Move From Texas to Alabama?
An interstate move is priced on the weight or volume of your shipment plus mileage — not by the hour. That is the key difference from a local move. A crew billed hourly has an incentive to work slowly; a shipment priced on weight and distance does not, which is why interstate moves are quoted this way.
What Determines Your Price
- Weight or volume of the shipment
- Distance between origin and destination
- Packing services, full or partial
- Packing materials and custom crating
- Specialty items such as pianos or safes
- Stairs, elevators and long carries at either end
- Shuttle service where a tractor-trailer cannot reach
- Storage in transit, if dates do not line up
- Valuation coverage you select
- Time of year and date flexibility
How to Keep the Cost Down
- Purge before the estimate, not after — you pay to move weight
- Book outside the May to August peak if you can
- Give a flexible delivery window rather than a fixed date
- Pack what you reasonably can yourself
- Take an accurate inventory so the estimate is not padded
- Sort out condo and HOA paperwork early to avoid a wasted trip
- Ask about consolidating with another shipment on the same lane
- Measure oversized furniture against the new doorways first
Interstate household moves are regulated by the FMCSA. Condor provides the federal Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet with interstate estimates, and your written estimate shows the expected charges before loading day.
What to Expect Delivering in Alabama
Alabama splits between a fast-growing north and an exposed Gulf Coast. Aerospace relocation, wooded hill terrain, hurricane season and humidity all shape the delivery. Here is what we plan for.
Huntsville Relocation Volume
Redstone Arsenal, the aerospace and defence contractors and the research corridor have made Huntsville one of the fastest-growing destinations in the country. Many of those moves run on fixed employment or report dates with little flexibility, and arsenal deliveries need gate access arranged in advance.
Wooded Lots & Steep Driveways
North Alabama is hill country and the Birmingham suburbs are heavily treed. Long driveways with overhanging limbs, steep approaches and tight turns are common across Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Madison and Huntsville. Where a loaded trailer cannot reach the house we shuttle in with a smaller truck.
Gulf Coast Hurricane Exposure
Mobile, Fairhope, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are directly exposed from June 1 through November 30. When a named storm is tracking toward the delivery area, dates are adjusted and shipments in transit are held in secure storage until delivery is safe.
Coastal Raised Construction
Much of the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach housing stock is raised on pilings with exterior stairs, and condo towers there have strict move-in windows and elevator reservations. Both change crew size and timing and should be flagged upfront.
Humidity & Summer Heat
Alabama summers are hot and humid, and cardboard left standing on a damp driveway fails quickly. Crews start early where they can, and heat-sensitive belongings are handled with that in mind.
Storm Season Inland
Alabama sits in an active severe weather corridor, with tornado risk concentrated in spring and again in late autumn. Conditions are watched ahead of your date and a move is rescheduled rather than driven into an active warning.

How an Interstate Move Works
- Step 1
Survey
An in-home or virtual walkthrough of every room, closet, garage and attic, so the estimate is built on your actual inventory.
- Step 2
Written Estimate
You receive the expected charges in writing, with packing, materials, access and any shuttle itemized rather than added later.
- Step 3
Schedule Locked
On approval we reserve the crew and equipment, confirm your delivery window and start on any condo or HOA paperwork.
- Step 4
Pack & Load
Everything is padded, inventoried and tagged. You get a copy of the inventory before the trailer leaves.
- Step 5
Delivery in Alabama
We check the shipment in against that same inventory, place furniture in the rooms you designate and reassemble what we took apart.

Texas to Alabama Moving FAQ
How much does it cost to move from Texas to Alabama?
An interstate move from Texas to Alabama is priced on the weight or volume of your shipment plus the mileage, not by the hour. Access is the variable people underestimate — wooded, steep driveways across the Birmingham and Huntsville suburbs often mean a shuttle, and coastal condo towers need dock and elevator time. Condor provides a written estimate before your shipment is loaded.
How long does a move from Texas to Alabama take?
Houston to Mobile is about 560 miles and Dallas–Fort Worth to Birmingham about 650. Huntsville runs roughly 700 miles from Dallas–Fort Worth. Interstate moves are scheduled with a delivery spread rather than a single guaranteed date. Your estimate states the window for your route.
Do you handle relocations to Huntsville?
Yes. Redstone Arsenal, the aerospace and defence contractors and the research corridor drive a great deal of inbound volume, usually on fixed employment or report dates. Deliveries onto the arsenal need gate access arranged in advance, including crew identification and vehicle details. Tell us when you request your estimate.
Can a moving truck get up my Alabama driveway?
Often not, and it is worth checking early. Long driveways with overhanging limbs, steep approaches and tight turns are common across Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Madison and Huntsville. Where a loaded trailer cannot reach the house safely the shipment is shuttled in with a smaller truck, quoted upfront.
Can you move during hurricane season on the Gulf Coast?
Yes. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 and Mobile, Fairhope, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are exposed. When a named storm is tracking toward the delivery area, dates are adjusted and shipments in transit are held in secure storage until delivery is safe.
Is Condor Moving Systems licensed for interstate moves?
Yes. Condor Moving Systems operates under USDOT 1126171 and MC 458180 for interstate moves and TxDMV 006041428C within Texas. Interstate household moves are regulated by the FMCSA, and Condor provides the federal Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet with interstate estimates.
What if my Alabama home is not ready when my shipment arrives?
Condor offers storage in transit for gaps between move-out and move-in. Your goods stay inventoried so the same shipment is redelivered without a second full pack. Tell your moving consultant if your closing or lease date is uncertain so the schedule is built with that in mind.
