Movers in The Woodlands, TX: Local and Long-Distance Moving

The Woodlands Movers

George P. Mitchell opened The Woodlands in 1974 as a planned town cut out of the pine forest about 28 miles north of downtown Houston along I-45. It had 114,436 residents at the 2020 census and spreads across Montgomery and Harris counties, run by The Woodlands Township rather than a city government. South of it, Spring and Klein fill the land between the Grand Parkway, SH 249 and I-45. Condor Moving Systems is a woman-owned mover that works out of our Houston location, and we have used our own crews and our own trucks on every job since 2003. We move households within The Woodlands, Spring and Klein, between the north side and the rest of Houston, and from here to other Texas cities and other states.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!

What a move in The Woodlands costs

Local moves are hourly. Two movers and a truck start at $175 an hour, with a four-hour minimum made up of three hours of labor and a one-hour trip charge. Before move day we send a binding estimate with the crew, the truck size and the price. When the crew arrives, the foreman checks the inventory with you, and if you have added items we write up a revised estimate for you to sign before anything is loaded. Village homes here often have long walks from the street, wooded lots and second-floor game rooms, and the estimate accounts for that.

The villages, one at a time

The Woodlands is divided into villages, and each one has its own feel and its own streets:

  • The first villages. Grogan's Mill, Panther Creek and Cochran's Crossing came first, and many homes sit well back from the street under mature trees.
  • Later villages. Indian Springs, Alden Bridge, College Park and Sterling Ridge filled in the middle and west sides, with plenty of cul-de-sacs where a 26-foot truck has to plan its turn.
  • Creekside Park. The newest village is south of Spring Creek on the Harris County side.

The tree canopy is part of why people move here, but low branches and narrow streets decide where we park. Tell us about any overhanging limbs or tight turns when you schedule. Most neighborhoods are under the Township's covenants, and some also have their own HOA rules, so send us anything that limits trucks or start times.

Corporate moves on the north side

Over the years The Woodlands has drawn big employers, including Occidental, Chevron Phillips, Huntsman and Baker Hughes, and ExxonMobil's campus sits just south near I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road. Hewlett Packard Enterprise moved its headquarters to Spring in 2022. We mention them only to describe the area, not as clients. Those campuses bring a steady flow of transferees who move in on a company timeline. We bill employers and relocation management companies directly, and we share dates, inventories and paperwork with the move manager your company assigns. See our corporate relocation page for group moves.

Spring and Klein

Spring started with German farmers in the 1840s. Old Town Spring, at Spring-Cypress Road and the Hardy Toll Road, is now a district of more than 150 shops, and the streets around it get crowded on festival days. The Spring census area had 62,559 residents in 2020, but the name also covers neighborhoods that are a long drive apart. Klein is named for Adam Klein, an early German settler. It is unincorporated, sits between SH 99, SH 249 and I-45, and most of it is in Klein ISD. Parts of Spring are in Spring ISD, Klein ISD or Conroe ISD depending on the street, and The Woodlands itself is mostly Conroe ISD. Check the district before you sign anything.

Packing, storage and office moves

Furniture padding and wrapping are included on every move, along with taking apart and putting back together beds, tables and other bolted pieces. We don't take apart particleboard or flat-pack furniture. Packing is an optional add-on priced separately, and we build crates for glass, stone tops and art. If your closing dates don't line up, we can keep your shipment at our Fort Worth or Houston location; storage is billed monthly. We move offices on evenings and weekends for an extra charge, and we tell you that charge when you book. Learn more on our packing and crating, moving and storage and office movers pages.

Long-distance moves from The Woodlands

We hold our own interstate operating authority and never broker a move, so your shipment stays with Condor from the driveway in The Woodlands to the door at the other end.

  • Pricing. Out-of-state moves are priced by the volume of your shipment and start at $1,200, on a binding estimate.
  • Texas moves. Moves to Austin, San Antonio or Dallas–Fort Worth are hourly.
  • Delivery. Long-distance loads arrive within a delivery window, and storage in transit is available if you need time before move-in.
  • Popular routes. North-side families often move to Colorado, North Carolina, Minnesota and Alabama. See all routes on our long-distance movers page.

Every interstate estimate comes with Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, the federal booklet.

Licenses and protection

Condor is licensed as USDOT 1126171 and MC-458180, with Texas registration TxDMV 006041428C. Every move includes released value protection at no cost, which pays 60 cents per pound per article. You can buy full value protection through Baker International. Before you hire any mover, read the FMCSA's Protect Your Move guide. Call us Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM CT.

Do you serve Spring, Klein and Creekside Park?

Yes. We move homes in every village of The Woodlands, including Creekside Park, and across Spring and Klein in north Harris County.

My company is transferring me. Can you bill them?

Yes. We bill employers and relocation management companies directly and coordinate with your move manager.

Do you move offices in The Woodlands on evenings or weekends?

How far ahead should I book?

Book at least two weeks ahead for local and long-distance moves. Summer and month-end dates book up first.
