Katy Movers
Katy started as a stop on the Missouri–Kansas–Texas railroad, the line everyone called the "KT", and the prairie around it grew rice for decades before Houston spread west along I-10. The city itself is small, with 21,894 residents at the 2020 census, and it sits where Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties meet. The name covers far more ground than the city limits, though. A "Katy" mailing address can belong to Cinco Ranch, Firethorne, Grand Lakes or a dozen other communities, and the next ring out, Fulshear, has grown from 16,856 people in 2020 to an estimated 64,630 in 2025. Condor Moving Systems is a woman-owned mover with a Houston location, and since 2003 every job has been done by our own employees in our own trucks. Our Katy movers handle moves within Greater Katy, moves between Katy and the rest of the Houston area, and long-distance moves from Katy to other Texas cities and other states.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.
Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!
These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!
Katy movers: how a local move is priced
Moving within Katy, or from Katy to Sugar Land or the Heights, is billed by the hour, from $175 an hour for two movers and a truck. There is a four-hour minimum: three hours of labor and a one-hour trip charge, the same terms listed on our Houston movers page. You get a binding estimate before move day that shows the crew size, the truck and the total. On move day the foreman walks the inventory with you first, and anything that was not on the list goes on a revised estimate you sign before we load. In Greater Katy the hours usually come down to three things: the square footage, whether the bedrooms are upstairs, and how far the truck sits from the front door.
Greater Katy: Cinco Ranch, Firethorne and the MUD communities
Most Katy-area homes are in master-planned communities rather than inside the city. Cinco Ranch was once a hunting ranch owned by five friends, which is where the name comes from, and in 1949 part of it was sold to the Army Corps of Engineers to enlarge Barker Reservoir. Today it is a large planned community with LaCenterra as its town center. Green Trails, Grayson Lakes, Seven Meadows, Firethorne, Grand Lakes and Young Ranch fill in the map around it.
- HOA rules. Many associations limit where a moving truck can park and when work can start. Send us the rules a few days ahead.
- Gated sections. Give us the gate code or the guard desk contact so the crew is not stuck at the entrance.
- Same address, different city. Plenty of Katy addresses are in unincorporated Harris or Fort Bend County, so check the county, the MUD and the school zone before you sign a lease or a contract.
Old Towne Katy and the city itself
Inside the city limits, Old Towne Katy keeps the historic square and the rail line that started the town. Older houses near downtown can have narrow doors and tight halls, so tell us about oversized sofas, armoires or a piano when you ask for an estimate. Katy Mills, Typhoon Texas and big Katy ISD events all draw heavy traffic, and we plan the route around them.
Fulshear and the new-build edge
Fulshear grew up around a railroad stop in the 1890s and did not incorporate until 1977. It now has some of the fastest growth in the Houston area, and new sections are still opening west of the Grand Parkway. Part of Fulshear is in Lamar Consolidated ISD and part is in Katy ISD, so confirm the district for any address. On new construction, the closing date and the builder's walkthrough decide the move date. If the closing slips, we can hold your shipment in storage and deliver it when the keys are ready.
Energy Corridor relocations
Many Katy households move because of a job on the west side, from the Energy Corridor offices along I-10 to the industrial parks near the Grand Parkway. BP's US offices in the Energy Corridor are one example; we name the company only to describe the area. If an employer is paying, we bill employers and relocation management companies directly, so you are not left covering the bill and waiting for a refund. Give us the name of the relocation firm when you request a quote, and we coordinate dates and paperwork with its move manager. Our corporate relocation page explains how we handle a group of employee moves.
Packing, storage and office moves in Katy
Every move includes furniture padding and wrapping, plus taking apart and reassembling beds, tables and other bolted furniture. Particleboard and flat-pack furniture are not taken apart. Packing is an add-on priced on its own, and we crate glass tabletops, marble and framed art. If there is a gap between closings, we can store your shipment at our Fort Worth or Houston location, billed monthly. We move offices on evenings and weekends for an extra charge, and we tell you that charge when you book. See our packing and crating, moving and storage and office movers pages.
Long-distance moves from Katy
Condor holds its own interstate authority, so the people who load your truck in Katy are the people who deliver it. We never sell the job to another carrier. Here is how a long-distance move from Katy is priced and run:
- Out-of-state moves go by cubic feet. The price is based on the volume of the shipment and starts at $1,200, on a binding estimate built from a full inventory.
- Moves inside Texas stay hourly. A move from Katy to San Antonio, Austin or Dallas–Fort Worth is billed by the hour on a binding estimate.
- Delivery windows. Interstate loads can share a trailer, so you get a delivery spread instead of a single date. Storage in transit covers any gap.
- Common routes out of Katy. Families here often head to Louisiana, Virginia, Missouri and Arizona. Every route is on our long-distance movers page.
All interstate moves run under USDOT 1126171 and MC-458180, and your estimate comes with the federal booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move.
