Movers in Round Rock, TX: Local and Long-Distance Moving

Round Rock Movers

Round Rock is named for a real rock: a round, anvil-shaped limestone block in Brushy Creek that marked a low-water crossing for wagons and cattle. The settlement took the name in 1854, and after the Civil War the Chisholm Trail crossed the creek at the same spot. Today Round Rock is the largest city in Williamson County. The 2020 census counted 119,468 residents, and the 2025 estimate is 141,282. It sits about 17 miles north of downtown Austin, shares a border with Austin near SH 45, and is home to Dell's world headquarters, so a lot of the moves here are job moves in one direction or the other. Condor Moving Systems is a woman-owned moving company that has sent only its own crews and trucks on every job since 2003. Our Round Rock movers handle moves across town, moves between Round Rock and the rest of the Austin area, and long-distance moves from Round Rock to other Texas cities and other states.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

Round Rock movers: what a local move costs

A local Round Rock move is billed hourly, from $175 an hour for two movers and a truck. It carries a four-hour minimum: three hours of labor and a one-hour trip charge, the same terms shown on our Austin movers page. Each move is booked on a binding estimate that lists the crew, the truck and the total before move day. When the crew arrives, the foreman checks the inventory with you, and anything new goes on a revised estimate you sign before loading starts. On a Round Rock job, the hours mostly depend on the size of the home, how many flights of stairs there are, and how close the truck can park, which in an apartment complex can mean a long walk from the building to the loading area.

Job relocations: Dell, La Frontera and north Austin

Dell moved its headquarters to Round Rock in the 1990s and employs thousands of people here. The La Frontera business center, where Loop 1, SH 45 and I-35 meet, adds more offices and company headquarters, and Round Rock lists more than 20 major employers, including Emerson and IKEA. We name them only to describe the city; for a relocation package, what matters is who pays. We bill employers and relocation management companies directly, so the employee does not pay the moving bill and wait for reimbursement. Tell us the name of your relocation company when you ask for an estimate, and we work with their move coordinator on dates, inventory and paperwork. See our corporate relocation page for how a group of employee moves is planned.

Teravista, Brushy Creek and the master-planned side

Most of Round Rock's newer homes are in master-planned communities, and ten of them are run by municipal utility districts, including Brushy Creek, Teravista, Paloma Lake, Walsh Ranch and Vista Oaks. Many have homeowners associations with rules about truck parking and start times, and some have gates. Send us those rules and any codes a few days before the move, and we will plan where the 26-foot truck stops.

  • West of I-35. The city straddles the Balcones Escarpment. West of the interstate the ground is hilly limestone, so driveways and back yards can slope.
  • East of I-35. The eastern side sits on flat Blackland Prairie, and new subdivisions are still opening along SH 130 and US 79.
  • School districts. Round Rock ISD serves most of the city and also parts of Austin and Cedar Park. Check the district for any address before you sign.

Old Town Round Rock and downtown

Old Town, west of I-35 near Brushy Creek, keeps the 19th-century buildings that survived from the cattle-drive days, and Main Street downtown holds City Hall and a row of restaurants. Every July 4 the Frontier Days celebration recreates the 1878 Sam Bass shootout, and downtown streets fill up. Older houses near downtown have narrow doors and tight stairs, so we measure large pieces before move day.

Apartments, Dell Diamond and game days

Round Rock has a large rental market, from complexes along I-35 and University Boulevard to newer buildings near the Round Rock Premium Outlets. Reserve the loading zone and any elevator with your leasing office, and send us the property's certificate of insurance requirements so we can supply the document ahead of time. On Round Rock Express game days at the Dell Diamond and on tournament days at Old Settlers Park, the roads around them back up, so we plan around those schedules.

Packing, storage and office moves

Every move includes padding and wrapping furniture and taking apart and putting back together beds, tables and other bolted furniture. We don't take apart particleboard or flat-pack pieces. Packing is an add-on with its own price, and crating is available for glass, stone and framed art. If your new home or office isn't ready, we can keep your shipment at our Fort Worth or Houston location; storage is billed monthly. We move offices on evenings and weekends for an extra charge, and we tell you that charge when you book. More detail is on our packing and crating, moving and storage and office movers pages.

Moving out of state from Round Rock

Condor holds its own interstate authority, so your Round Rock move stays with us from loading to delivery. The crew that loads the truck drives it and unloads it; no broker sells the job to another mover. Long-distance moves from Round Rock work like this:

  1. Pricing by cubic feet. An out-of-state move is priced by the volume of your shipment and starts at $1,200, with a binding estimate built from a full inventory.
  2. Texas moves remain hourly. Moving from Round Rock to Houston, San Antonio or Dallas–Fort Worth is billed by the hour on a binding estimate.
  3. A delivery window. Interstate shipments can share a trailer, so you get a range of delivery dates. Storage in transit fills any gap.
  4. Routes we run from Round Rock. Frequent destinations include Tennessee, Georgia, New Mexico and Kansas. See every route on our long-distance movers page.

All interstate moves operate under USDOT 1126171 and MC-458180, and you get the federal booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move with your estimate.
