Your Washington Delivery Window
Washington deliveries are scheduled within 1–21 business days, counted from the first day you can accept the shipment. That window applies statewide, from Bellingham to Walla Walla.
- Pickup: your pickup date is guaranteed.
- Delivery: a guaranteed delivery date is available for an additional charge.
- Next-day: we offer next-day delivery on dedicated trucks only for destinations within about an 8-hour drive. No part of Washington is close to that from Texas.
If you're starting a job in Redmond or reporting to Joint Base Lewis-McChord on a fixed date, tell us at the quote stage. That's when a guaranteed delivery date or storage in transit makes sense.
Two Washingtons: West and East of the Cascades
Western Washington is the Puget Sound region: Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Everett, Tacoma, Olympia and the Kitsap Peninsula. Expect apartment and condo buildings with booked elevators, hills, rain, and ferry-served islands.
Eastern Washington is drier and more spread out: Spokane, the Tri-Cities (Richland, Kennewick, Pasco), Yakima, Wenatchee and Pullman. Summers are hot, winters are cold and snowy, and many homes sit on larger lots with long driveways.

Mountain Passes and Winter Chain Rules
Washington requires commercial vehicles over 10,000 GVWR on I-90 between North Bend and Ellensburg, which takes in Snoqualmie Pass, to carry chains from November 1 through April 1. When chains are posted as required, they go on the drive tires. Snoqualmie can close for avalanche control or crashes, sometimes for hours.
For a winter move:
- Expect that a pass closure can push your delivery later inside the 1–21 day window.
- Keep the first day or two after your earliest delivery date flexible.
- Plan for wet weather at the curb: from October through April, Western Washington gets steady rain. We wrap furniture in pads, and you can help by clearing a covered spot near the door for boxes.
Summer brings a different risk east of the mountains, where wildfire smoke and closures sometimes affect highways near Yakima, Wenatchee and Spokane.
Seattle-Area Access
Steep streets
Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, Magnolia and West Seattle have grades and narrow residential streets that can make parking a full-size truck hard. If a full-size semi can't get access, a smaller shuttle truck finishes the trip. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
Reserving curb space
In Seattle you don't need a Street Use permit for a moving truck, but if the space is metered or restricted you'll set up a Temporary No Parking zone with a Restricted Area Parking permit. Apply at least 24 hours ahead. For unpaid spaces, the no-parking barricades and notice go up 72 hours before the zone starts.
Apartment and condo buildings
Buildings in South Lake Union, Belltown, downtown Bellevue and the Tacoma waterfront usually require a certificate of insurance, a booked freight elevator and a move window. Forward the rules and we'll issue the COI before your truck leaves Texas.
Tolls
Washington tolls the SR 520 bridge, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, the SR 167 HOT lanes and the I-405 express toll lanes through the Good To Go! system. If you drive your own car, set up an account or expect a mailed bill.
Ferries and Island Addresses
Bainbridge Island, Vashon Island, the San Juan Islands and parts of the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas are often reached by Washington State Ferries. We deliver to ferry-served addresses too. A moving truck on a ferry needs advance planning for sailing times and vehicle space, so tell us early if your new home is on an island or across the Sound.
Bases, Campuses and Timing
Military installations
Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton and Bangor, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor and Fairchild Air Force Base outside Spokane all need gate access planned in advance. Weight tickets are only required for military moves; if your military move calls for them, we can provide them. We handle PPM moves (you arrange the move and the government reimburses you), retiree moves and government-arranged shipments.
University schedules
The University of Washington is on the quarter calendar and starts classes in late September, so the U District fills with move-ins then. Washington State University in Pullman and Gonzaga in Spokane start in August.
Summer is the busy season
Most households want to move in June through August, when the passes are clear and the days are long. Ask for dates early if you're aiming for that stretch.
How Your Price Is Set
Condor prices every long-distance move by cubic footage. The per-cubic-foot rate already includes the 2,000-mile trip, so you won't see a separate charge for distance. Long-distance moves start at $1,200; a full household going to Washington will be higher, and the survey sets the exact figure.
The estimate you sign is binding. If your inventory changes before load day, the foreman writes a revised estimate and you approve it before loading.

Federal Protections and Claims
Every Texas to Washington move is interstate and regulated by the FMCSA. We operate under USDOT 1126171 and MC-458180 and give you the federal booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move. If something is lost or damaged, you have 9 months from delivery to file a written claim, and we support you through it after the move. Start at file a claim.
After You Arrive in Washington
New residents have 30 days to get a Washington driver license and register their vehicles. The license comes first, and driver licensing and vehicle licensing are handled at separate offices, so plan on two trips. Washington, like Texas, has no state income tax.

Living Out of a Suitcase: What to Keep With You
On a move with a 1–21 business day window, you may beat your furniture to Washington by a week or more. Plan for it before the truck is loaded.
Ride with you, not on the truck:
- Passports, birth certificates, closing papers, titles and tax records
- Prescription medications and a copy of each prescription
- Laptops, work equipment and chargers
- Jewelry, cash and small valuables
- Rain gear, layers and a warm jacket; a Seattle October is a long way from a Texas October
- A box of essentials: sheets, towels, a pot, a pan, plates, a shower curtain and basic tools
Decide early:
- Storage in transit. If your Washington lease or closing date might slip, tell your consultant before the survey. Storage in transit keeps your inventoried shipment under our care until the house is ready.
- Guaranteed delivery date. If you can't live without furniture past a certain day, a guaranteed delivery date is available for an additional charge.
- Packing. A 2,000-mile trip with mountain grades is hard on poorly packed boxes. If you'd rather not pack yourself, choose the full or partial packing add-on.
Getting the new home ready
Washington homes, especially older ones in Seattle and Tacoma, often have basements, steep front steps or a detached garage down an alley. Newer homes on the Eastside and in Spokane Valley may be in HOA communities with parking rules. Send photos of the entry and the street, and ask your HOA or building about moving hours.
Utilities and services
Set up power, water and internet before delivery day. Puget Sound Energy, Seattle City Light, Tacoma Public Utilities and Avista each serve different parts of the state, so check which one serves your address.

Why is the Washington window 1–21 business days?
Washington is one of our longest routes, and deliveries are spread across a large state, so we quote a 1–21 business day window counted from the first day you can receive the shipment.
What happens if Snoqualmie Pass closes during my move?
The truck waits for the pass to reopen or the route is adjusted. That can move your delivery later within the window, which is why a flexible day or two helps in winter.
Does a move to Spokane cost less than a move to Seattle?
The price is based on cubic feet, and the rate already includes the trip. There's no separate distance line, so the size of your shipment matters most.
Can you deliver to a condo in Bellevue or South Lake Union?
Yes. Send us the building's COI requirements and elevator booking rules, and we'll schedule inside the window they give you.
Does the truck stop at a scale for my move?
No. Weight tickets are only for military moves, and we provide them when a military move requires them.
Can I lock in my delivery date?
Pickup dates are guaranteed. A guaranteed delivery date is available for an additional charge.
Do I need someone to come to my house for an estimate?
No. Most customers choose a Zoom survey. A phone quote works if you have an accurate item list and box count.
How long do I have to switch my license to Washington?
30 days, and you need the Washington license before you can register your car.
