What to Expect Delivering in Iowa

Winter Cold & Snow
From November through March, Iowa sees deep cold, heavy snow and ice, and I-35 and I-80 close in blizzard conditions at short notice. Steps and walkways need clearing before a crew can safely carry. Conditions are monitored ahead of your date and a shipment is held rather than run into a closure.
Farm & Acreage Access
A great deal of Iowa delivery is outside town limits, where the last stretch is gravel and there is no room to turn a trailer. Spring thaw turns some of those roads soft. Where a full-size truck cannot safely reach the house we shuttle in with a smaller vehicle.
River Flooding
The Mississippi, Missouri, Cedar and Des Moines rivers flood recurrently, closing low-lying roads and access routes with limited notice. Routing is set when the move is quoted and reviewed again before dispatch.
University Move Weeks
Iowa City and Ames compress an enormous amount of moving into the weeks around the Iowa and Iowa State calendars, and campus-area streets get very tight. Those dates book out first.
Older Housing & Basements
Much of the Iowa housing stock is older, with narrow staircases, tight landings and basements reached by exterior bulkhead doors. Larger furniture sometimes has to be disassembled, so tell us what is oversized when you request your estimate.
Des Moines & Downtown Buildings
