Texas to Missouri Movers

Texas to Missouri Movers

Missouri is really two destinations with the Ozarks in between. Kansas City sits on the western edge, St. Louis on the eastern edge, and a Texas truck reaches each one by a different highway. Condor Moving Systems has handled interstate moves out of Texas since 2003. We work from locations in Fort Worth and Houston, run our own trucks with our own crews, and pick up anywhere in Texas for delivery across Missouri.

Your Missouri Move, Included and Optional

Comes with every move:

  • Our crew takes apart beds, tables and other furniture before loading, and puts them back together in Missouri
  • Furniture is padded with moving blankets for the trip
  • Every item gets a numbered tag that matches a signed inventory sheet
  • Pieces go into the rooms you point to
  • One Condor consultant handles your file start to finish
  • Released value protection, the minimum coverage under federal rules: 60 cents per pound per article (moving coverage, not insurance)

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!

Two Highways Into Missouri

I-35 to the Kansas City side. From DFW, the truck follows I-35 north through Oklahoma City and Wichita into Kansas City. It is about 545 miles from Fort Worth to downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Lee's Summit, Independence, Liberty and Blue Springs are a short hop from there.

I-44 to Springfield, Rolla and St. Louis. For southern and eastern Missouri, the route cuts northeast across Oklahoma on the Turner and Will Rogers turnpikes, then follows I-44 through Joplin and Springfield toward St. Louis. Both Oklahoma turnpikes went fully cashless in 2024. If you're driving your own car behind the truck without a PIKEPASS, the toll bill arrives by mail through PlatePay.

From Houston, St. Louis-bound shipments usually go up US-59 through East Texas and then across Arkansas.

Delivery window

Standard delivery to Missouri runs 1 to 10 business days from the first day you can receive your shipment. Next-day delivery is available on dedicated trucks for destinations within about an 8-hour drive. Your consultant will tell you whether your Missouri address qualifies.

Your pickup date is guaranteed. A guaranteed delivery date is also available, for an additional charge.

Pricing: Cubic Feet, Not Hours

Local moves are hourly. Long-distance moves at Condor, including every move to Missouri, are priced per cubic foot. The haul from Texas is already inside that rate; you won't find a separate charge for the trip. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.

The cubic-foot total is set by what you're bringing. The fastest way to lower it is to sell, donate or toss what you don't want before the survey. After that, the estimate lists any extras: packing, materials, crates, stairs or elevators, storage and coverage. A shuttle truck, if your new home is down a steep or narrow drive, is charged in addition to the estimate.

Binding estimates only. The estimate you sign is binding. There is no open-ended option. If your shipment changes after the survey, our foreman revises the estimate in writing before loading begins, and you sign off on it first.

Getting surveyed. Most customers choose a Zoom video walk-through. If you can give us an accurate list of furniture and a box count, we can quote by phone (for a binding phone quote with no survey, you sign a written waiver of the survey). In the Dallas-Fort Worth area we can also send a surveyor to your home.

Kansas City, Missouri Side

Kansas City straddles the state line. Kansas City, Missouri, Independence, Lee's Summit, Liberty, Blue Springs and Raytown are in Missouri. Overland Park, Olathe and Kansas City, Kansas are across State Line Road in Kansas, and we cover those on our Texas to Kansas movers page. Give us the exact street address so the move is booked for the right state.

Older parts of KCMO, like Brookside, Waldo and Midtown, have bungalows and two-story homes with narrow stairs and detached garages off back alleys. Downtown and Crossroads loft buildings usually require a reserved freight elevator and a certificate of insurance; send the building's move-in rules to your consultant early.

St. Louis and the Eastern Side

The City of St. Louis is its own jurisdiction, separate from St. Louis County, so your county paperwork depends on which side of the line you land on. Much of the city's housing is solid brick, two and three stories, with steep interior stairs and alley access in neighborhoods like Soulard, Tower Grove and The Hill. Suburbs such as Kirkwood, Chesterfield, O'Fallon and St. Charles are more typical driveway-and-garage deliveries.

The Ozarks: Springfield, Branson and the Lakes

South of I-44, Missouri turns into hill country. Homes around Table Rock Lake and Lake of the Ozarks often sit down steep, winding drives that a full-size truck can't safely navigate. Send photos and a map pin of the driveway before your survey. If a smaller truck has to shuttle your things from the road, the shuttle is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450. Branson traffic on US-65 and Highway 76 is heaviest on summer and holiday weekends, so a weekday delivery is easier.

Columbia, Jefferson City and College Move-In

The University of Missouri in Columbia moves thousands of students in during mid-August, and apartment complexes across town limit loading times that week. Missouri State in Springfield and Missouri S&T in Rolla see smaller versions of the same rush.

Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman AFB

Fort Leonard Wood, near Waynesville and St. Robert along I-44, trains Army engineers, military police and chemical soldiers. Whiteman Air Force Base, near Knob Noster east of Kansas City, is home to the B-2 bomber. For deliveries on either installation, we arrange gate access in advance with crew names and truck details. When a military move needs certified weight tickets, Condor can provide them; we weigh trucks only for military moves. Condor handles PPM moves, where the service member arranges the move and the government reimburses it, along with retiree moves and government-arranged shipments.

Weather to Plan Around

Missouri sees tornado warnings and severe storms in spring, and summer heat and humidity are close to what you're used to in Texas. Winter is the bigger change: ice storms can coat I-44 and I-70, and the hills of the Ozarks are slow going when roads are slick. We check conditions before dispatch.

Getting the Lights On

Two big utilities cover most Missouri moves. Evergy supplies electricity across the Kansas City area, and Ameren Missouri covers St. Louis and much of central and eastern Missouri. Springfield's power, water and gas come from the city-owned City Utilities of Springfield. Rural areas are often served by electric co-ops. Set up service before your delivery date so the crew has lights and air conditioning while they unload.

Before the Truck Leaves Texas

  • Measure the stairs. Older St. Louis and Kansas City homes often have tight interior stairs; send measurements of any piece you're unsure about.
  • Check your HOA or building rules in Lee's Summit, Chesterfield or downtown loft buildings, and forward them to your consultant.
  • Get your non-assessment statement in motion. You'll need it to title your car, so find your Missouri county assessor's office online before you go.
  • Keep valuables with you. Jewelry, cash, important documents and prescriptions belong in your car, not on the truck.

Your First Month in Missouri

Missouri gives new residents 30 days to title their vehicles. Before the license office will title a car that was titled in Texas, you'll need a few things:

  • A vehicle identification and odometer inspection from an authorized Missouri inspection station (a Missouri safety inspection counts)
  • A statement of non-assessment from your county assessor (or the City of St. Louis), showing you don't owe Missouri personal property tax yet
  • Proof of insurance and your Texas title

Rules change; check the Missouri Department of Revenue's new-resident page for the current list.
