Texas to Nevada Movers

Texas to Nevada Movers

Summer in Las Vegas is hotter than summer in Dallas, just drier. That matters on moving day: by mid-afternoon in July, a truck's interior and the driveway are hot enough to soften candles and warp vinyl records, and crews carrying furniture need water and shade. Most Texans moving to Nevada are headed for the Las Vegas valley, with Reno and Carson City a distant second. Condor Moving Systems has moved Texas households out of state since 2003, with our own trucks and our own crews working from our Fort Worth and Houston locations. We pick up anywhere in Texas.

If you want more, full value replacement is available through Baker International; Condor doesn't sell it in-house.

Packing is an add-on, every time. Your dishes, clothes, decorations and the contents of the garage and attic are not boxed as part of the base move. Choose a full pack, a partial pack, or do it yourself.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.

Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!

These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!

West Across the Desert

From DFW, the usual route to Las Vegas heads northwest on US-287 through Wichita Falls to Amarillo, then west on I-40 through Albuquerque and Flagstaff to Kingman, Arizona. From Kingman, US-93 runs north and crosses the Colorado River on the bypass bridge just downstream of Hoover Dam, then drops into Boulder City and Henderson. Reno is roughly 440 more road miles north of Las Vegas on US-95, across some of the emptiest country in the West.

Delivery Window

Standard delivery to Nevada is 1 to 10 business days, counted from the first day you can accept your shipment. Nevada is far more than an 8-hour drive from Texas, so next-day service isn't available on this route. Next-day delivery is available on dedicated trucks for destinations within about an 8-hour drive.

We guarantee your pickup date. If you need delivery on an exact date, say for a lease start or a closing, a guaranteed delivery date is available for an additional charge.

What Determines Your Nevada Price

Condor prices long-distance moves per cubic foot. During the survey, your consultant works out how much space your household will take on the truck. Multiply that by your rate and you have your transportation price; the trip to Nevada is already part of it. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.

The estimate adds lines only for:

  • Packing, if you choose a full or partial pack, plus boxes and materials
  • Wooden crates for art, mirrors, glass and stone tops
  • Stairs, elevators and long carries, common at Las Vegas high-rises and hillside homes in Henderson
  • A shuttle truck, if a full-size truck can't reach the house (some Lake Tahoe-area homes; charged in addition to your estimate, from $450)
  • Storage in transit
  • Full value replacement through Baker International
  • A guaranteed delivery date

Binding estimate, written before loading

Condor's estimates are binding. There's no open-ended estimate. If something changes after the survey, the foreman prepares a written revision before the crew loads, and you approve it before work starts.

Your survey options

Most customers choose a Zoom video survey. If you can give an accurate furniture list and a count of boxes, a phone quote also works (for a binding phone quote with no survey, you sign a written waiver of the survey). In-person surveys are offered in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Moving Into Las Vegas Heat

Las Vegas averages a high of about 105°F in July, and many summer days go higher. A few things help on delivery day:

  • Start early if you can. As a tip, summer deliveries tend to go best in the morning, before the worst of the heat.
  • Keep heat-sensitive things with you. Candles, vinyl records, photos, electronics, medications, wine and houseplants travel better in your air-conditioned car than in a truck crossing the desert.
  • Have the power and A/C on at the Nevada house before the truck arrives.
  • Watch for summer storms. July through September can bring sudden thunderstorms and flash flooding to Las Vegas washes and low streets.

Winter is mild in Las Vegas but not in Reno, where snow is common and nearby mountain roads have chain controls.

Gates, HOAs and High-Rises

Much of the Las Vegas valley is master-planned. Summerlin, Henderson communities like Green Valley Ranch and Inspirada, and newer areas of North Las Vegas often have gated entries and HOA rules about when moving trucks can park. Get your gate code or add the crew to the guard-gate list for delivery day, and send any HOA move-in rules to your consultant.

High-rise condo towers along and near the Strip usually require a reserved service elevator, a loading-dock time and a certificate of insurance. Ask your building for its requirements as soon as you have a move-in date.

Northern Nevada's Growth

The Reno–Sparks area has grown fast, driven partly by the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center east of Sparks, home to Tesla's Gigafactory and other large manufacturing and data operations. A lot of new housing has gone up north and east of Reno, in areas like Spanish Springs and the outskirts of Sparks and Fernley, many with HOAs and new-construction streets. Get the community's move-in rules and gate details early.

Utilities and Desert Living

NV Energy supplies electricity to most of Nevada, including Las Vegas and Reno, and Southwest Gas serves much of the Las Vegas valley. Have power and air conditioning on before the truck arrives; an empty house in July can be well over 90°F inside.

A few things are different from a Texas yard. Many Las Vegas homes have desert landscaping instead of grass, and the water authority restricts watering days by season. Pools are common, but the chemicals for them can't go on a moving truck, and neither can propane tanks for a grill. Use them up or give them away before moving day.

Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley

Homes on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, around Incline Village and Stateline, and in the hills above Carson City and Minden, are often on steep, narrow, winding roads. In winter, snow and chain controls on mountain highways can close the way in for a day or more. If you're moving to Tahoe, tell us early and send photos of the street and driveway. A shuttle truck may be needed. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450. We deliver on the Tahoe side, too.

Las Vegas, Reno and Places Between

Las Vegas valley: Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, Boulder City, Enterprise, Spring Valley, Paradise

Southern Nevada: Pahrump, Mesquite, Laughlin

Northern Nevada: Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, Fernley, Fallon, Elko

Texas pickup: Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso and anywhere else in Texas.

Military: Nellis, Creech and Fallon

Nellis Air Force Base is in northeast Las Vegas, and Creech Air Force Base is about 45 miles northwest at Indian Springs. In northern Nevada, Naval Air Station Fallon is home to the Navy's TOPGUN program. On-base deliveries need gate access set up in advance with crew and truck information. When a military move needs certified weight tickets, we can provide them; we don't weigh trucks for any other move. We handle PPM moves (you arrange the move and the government reimburses you), retiree moves and government-arranged shipments.

UNLV and UNR

UNLV in Las Vegas and the University of Nevada, Reno both see apartment move-in rushes in mid-to-late August. Complexes near campus may limit loading times that week.

After the Move: Nevada DMV

Nevada gives new residents 30 days to register their vehicles. Expect a VIN inspection for a car coming from Texas, Nevada liability insurance, and, for most gasoline vehicles in the urban parts of Clark and Washoe counties (Las Vegas and Reno), an emissions (smog) check. Nevada has no state personal income tax, so there's no state return to file on wages. Check the Nevada DMV's new-resident page for the current rules.

Nevada Moving Questions

How do you protect my things from the heat?

Furniture travels padded and wrapped inside the truck. We suggest carrying the most heat-sensitive items, like candles, records, electronics and medicines, in your car.

Can you deliver inside a guard-gated community?

Yes. Add the crew to the gate list or give us the code, and send any HOA rules so we can plan parking.

What will a move to Las Vegas cost?

It depends on the cubic feet of your shipment. Our rate includes the trip from Texas; long-distance moves start at $1,200. Add-ons such as packing are listed separately on a binding estimate.

Is Reno priced differently from Las Vegas?

Both are priced the same way, per cubic foot. Your consultant quotes the exact Nevada address on your binding estimate.

How long will delivery take?

1 to 10 business days from your first available delivery day. Guaranteed delivery dates cost extra.

Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture?

Yes. Basic disassembly and reassembly is standard on every move.

Who helps with a damage claim?

We do. Our team supports you after the move; start at our file a claim page. You have 9 months from delivery to file.
