Texas to Arizona Movers
Arizona is the closest of the western states to Texas, and for most moves it's a straight shot on I-10. San Antonio to Tucson is about 870 miles; Fort Worth to Phoenix is about 1,030. What changes more than the distance is the altitude. Phoenix sits around 1,100 feet in the Sonoran Desert, Tucson at about 2,400, and Flagstaff near 7,000 feet in ponderosa pine country where it snows every winter. Condor Moving Systems, in business since 2003, moves Texas households to all three, using our own trucks and our own crews from locations in Fort Worth and Houston. We pick up anywhere in Texas.

What's Included
The base price on every Arizona move covers the work most people expect from a full-service mover:
- Breaking down bed frames, tables and other furniture that needs it, and putting it back together at your Arizona home
- Moving blankets on every piece
- A numbered tag on each item, matched to an inventory you sign in Texas and review in Arizona
- Unloading into the rooms you choose
- One consultant who handles your move from quote to delivery
- Released value protection, the federally required minimum. It's the carrier's basic liability under federal rules, 60 cents per pound per article, and it's moving coverage, not insurance. Full value replacement is available through Baker International; Condor doesn't sell it in-house. Compare coverage levels before you book.
Packing is never part of the base price. If you want our crew to box your kitchen, closets, decorations or garage and attic, add a full or partial pack.

Punctual, good and professional. Condor Moving System is my go-to moving guys now. Fairly priced for the level of professional moving service they provide to their customers. They were very good in communication to me and among themselves. I have had many bad experiences with multiple movers before it. Condor is the first ever company that I found nobody to complain about, which is maybe a pretty rare thing to say about relocators.Thomas C Davison
Movers did a great moving job even though it was a not smooth and it's a very long job. Best value for the money we spend. They stayed professional and were kind throughout the move process. They recognized my items and if I needed to change the things, they did it for me rapidly. Very friendly teamwork. Will surly use them again!Denis Tanney
These movers did a best job even though it was a tough and time taking job. Best value for the money it cost. Stayed professional and were helpful throughout the day of move. Honored my goods and if I required things changed they did it for me in little time. Very coordinated teamwork. Will definitely use them again for coming movers!Marks Josephine
I-10, I-20 and I-40
From Houston, San Antonio and Austin, the route is I-10 west through Fort Stockton and El Paso, then into Arizona past Willcox to Tucson and on to Phoenix.
From Dallas–Fort Worth, the truck takes I-20 west through Abilene and Midland–Odessa to join I-10 east of Van Horn.
To Flagstaff and northern Arizona, the more direct path from DFW is US-287 to Amarillo, then I-40 west through Albuquerque.

Delivery runs 1 to 10 business days, counted from the first day you can receive your shipment. Arizona is well over an 8-hour drive from Fort Worth or Houston, so next-day service doesn't apply. Next-day delivery is available on dedicated trucks for destinations within about an 8-hour drive.
Pricing by the Cubic Foot
Here's how a Condor quote for Arizona works. The survey totals how much truck space your furniture and boxes will take up, measured in cubic feet. That volume times your rate is the transportation cost, and the haul to Arizona is already inside the rate. There's no separate distance charge on the estimate.
Other lines show up only if they apply: packing and boxes, crates, extra carrying for stairs or elevators, storage in transit, extra coverage, and a guaranteed delivery date. If a mountain driveway or a street a full-size semi can't turn around on calls for a shuttle truck, shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
Every estimate we write is binding, and we'll write a not-to-exceed estimate if your situation calls for one. Your price is set in writing before the truck is loaded. If your shipment changes after the survey, the foreman revises the estimate in writing before loading starts, and you approve it first.
How to get your quote
Most customers walk through their home with a consultant on a Zoom video call. A phone quote works when you can give an accurate furniture list and box count (for a binding phone quote with no survey, you sign a written waiver of the survey). In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, we can also do an in-person survey.
Monsoon Season and Dust Storms
Arizona's monsoon season officially runs from June 15 to September 30. Afternoon storms can bring sudden downpours, flash flooding in washes and low crossings, and haboobs, the walls of blowing dust that can drop visibility on I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix to near zero. Drivers are told to pull off the road when one hits. Plan for possible afternoon delays in summer, and keep an extra day of flexibility in your delivery window.
Heat and Moving Day
Phoenix regularly tops 110°F in summer. Have the electricity and air conditioning running before the truck arrives, and drive heat-sensitive items yourself: candles, photographs, vinyl, wine, electronics, prescriptions and plants. Morning deliveries are the comfortable choice from May through September.
Arizona Doesn't Change Its Clocks
Most of Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving time (the Navajo Nation is the exception). From March to November, Phoenix is on the same clock as Los Angeles; in winter it matches Denver. When you're arranging a delivery time by phone from Texas, double-check which hour you mean.
Communities, HOAs and Snowbird Season
A large share of homes in Phoenix suburbs like Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, Peoria and Surprise, and in Tucson's Oro Valley and Marana, are in HOA communities. Many limit how long a moving truck can sit on the street and which hours it can work. Retirement communities, including the Sun City developments, often have their own move-in rules. Send any HOA guidelines to your consultant early.
From roughly October through April, seasonal residents arrive and traffic in the Valley and Tucson picks up. If you're going the other way, back to Texas in spring, we pick up anywhere in Arizona for moves back to Texas.
Bases and Universities
Military: Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Fort Huachuca near Sierra Vista and Marine Corps Air Station Yuma all bring frequent moves. On-base deliveries need gate access arranged in advance. If your military move requires certified weight tickets, Condor can provide them; that's the only time we weigh a truck. Our military work includes PPM moves (you set up the move and are reimbursed by the government), retiree moves and shipments arranged by the government.
Universities: Arizona State in Tempe, the University of Arizona in Tucson and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff all have student move-in weeks in mid-August, when apartment complexes near campus book their loading areas tightly.
Where the Valley Is Growing
New jobs in semiconductors have changed parts of greater Phoenix. Intel has long had a large campus in Chandler, and TSMC is building chip plants in north Phoenix. New neighborhoods are spreading in the West Valley (Buckeye, Surprise, Goodyear) and the far Southeast Valley (Queen Creek, San Tan Valley). Many are new-construction subdivisions where the moving truck may be one of several on the street, next to builders' crews. Ask about access rules if your home is in a community still under construction.
Getting Utilities Started
In the Phoenix area, electricity comes from either APS or SRP depending on your address, sometimes even within the same city, so check before you call. Tucson Electric Power serves most of Tucson. Natural gas, where homes have it, is mostly Southwest Gas. Have power on at least a day before delivery so the house has cooled down by the time the crew starts.
Things That Stay in Texas
A few common household items can't go on any moving truck, and in Arizona people are often tempted to bring them for the new backyard: propane tanks, pool chemicals, gasoline for the mower, and lighter fluid. Use them up, give them away, or dispose of them properly before moving day. See the full list on our non-allowables page.
Flagstaff and the High Country
Flagstaff gets real winters, with frequent snowstorms between November and April, and I-40 and I-17 around it can close during heavy storms. Moves to Flagstaff, Williams or the White Mountains in winter need extra flexibility, cleared driveways and a plan for where the truck can park.

Arizona Registration and Emissions
Arizona expects you to register your vehicle as soon as you become a resident. In the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas, many vehicles have to pass an emissions test before the MVD will register them; newer vehicles are generally exempt. If you're still gathering documents, Arizona offers a temporary registration. See the Arizona MVD's "New to AZ" page for details.

Arizona Move FAQ
What's the best time of year to move to Phoenix?
October through April is the most comfortable for working outdoors. Summer moves are fine with an early start, but plan around monsoon storms from mid-June to the end of September.
Can a moving truck get up to a house in Prescott or Flagstaff?
Usually, but some mountain driveways are steep or narrow. Send photos and a map pin. If a full-size truck can't safely reach the house, a shuttle truck may be needed. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
How long will it take for my things to arrive in Arizona?
1 to 10 business days from the first day you can take delivery. A guaranteed delivery date is available at extra cost.
How is the price calculated?
By cubic foot, with the trip from Texas built in. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.
Do you take apart and set up beds?
Yes, basic furniture disassembly and reassembly is part of every move.
Can you pack only my kitchen?
Yes. A partial pack is an add-on that covers the rooms you choose.
What do I do if something is damaged?
Contact us. We support you through the claims process after the move. Start at our file a claim page. You have 9 months from delivery to file.
