Northwest Arkansas or Central Arkansas?
Northwest Arkansas has grown quickly for years, much of it tied to Walmart's home office in Bentonville and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Expect new subdivisions with HOA move-in rules, plenty of townhomes, and hillside lots where the driveway drops steeply off the street.
Central Arkansas is older and more spread out. Little Rock's Heights and Hillcrest neighborhoods have narrow streets and houses built before anyone pictured a 53-foot trailer out front. Conway, Benton and Bryant are newer suburbs. Hot Springs adds lake houses on Lake Hamilton and Lake Ouachita, often with stairs down to the living level.
On your survey we note street width, driveway grade and stairs, so the estimate fits the actual house.

Distances come from OpenStreetMap routing (OSRM) between downtowns and are rounded. OSRM times usually run a little longer than phone map apps, and trucks run slower than cars.
Getting There: I-30 and I-49
Central and south Arkansas are an I-30 run. From Dallas the interstate heads northeast through Mount Pleasant, crosses into Arkansas at Texarkana and continues past Hope and Arkadelphia to Little Rock. Houston moves usually come up US-59 to Texarkana and join I-30 there.
Northwest Arkansas is reached through Oklahoma or Fort Smith. Most of our trucks cross eastern Oklahoma to reach I-40, follow it to Fort Smith, then turn north on I-49. Between Alma and Fayetteville, I-49 climbs the Boston Mountains and runs through the Bobby Hopper Tunnel. The grades there are long and steep, and winter ice closes that stretch more often than any other part of the trip.

Every Arkansas move is priced by cubic feet: how much room your furniture and boxes take on the truck. Your route's cubic-foot rate already includes the drive, so distance never shows up as its own line. Long-distance moves start at $1,200.

How a Next-Day Arkansas Move Runs
For a DFW-to-Arkansas move on a dedicated truck, the two days usually look like this:
Day one, in Texas. The crew arrives, walks the house with you, and starts with the furniture: beds and tables come apart, every piece is padded, and items are tagged as they go on the truck. Before the doors close, you walk the empty rooms with the foreman and sign the inventory.
Day two, in Arkansas. The same shipment, and nothing else, rolls into Little Rock, Fayetteville, Hot Springs or wherever you're headed. The crew checks each tag against the inventory as it comes off, sets furniture in the rooms you've marked, and puts the beds and tables back together.
Two things make the second day go well: having the keys and utilities ready at the Arkansas house, and marking each room (a sticky note on the door works) so the crew knows where the guest bed or the office desk goes.
Gated communities
Hot Springs Village and some newer neighborhoods elsewhere in Arkansas are gated, and a moving truck needs a pass or a call-in from the homeowner before the guard will open the gate. Arrange that with your HOA or property office in advance and send us the details.
Lakes, Hills and Older Neighborhoods
Hot Springs and the lake houses
Lake Hamilton and Lake Ouachita homes are often built down the slope toward the water, with the driveway and front door at the top and the main rooms one or two flights down. That changes the crew size and the time on site. Send us photos of the drive and the stairs with your quote request.
Ozark hills in Northwest Arkansas
Fayetteville and the hills around Beaver Lake have driveways that a full trailer can't safely back down. In those cases a smaller truck may shuttle the load from the street. Shuttle service is charged in addition to your estimate and starts at $450.
Ice, not snow
Arkansas winters bring more ice than snow, and a single ice storm can close I-49 through the Boston Mountains or slick up I-30 for a day. Spring storms and tornado warnings also pause loading until they pass. Keep your move dates a little flexible from December through May.
Little Rock Air Force Base and Fort Chaffee
Little Rock Air Force Base, in Jacksonville just northeast of Little Rock, is the main C-130 training base for the Air Force. Fort Chaffee, outside Fort Smith, is a training center for the Arkansas National Guard. Both require gate access set up ahead of time with crew names, IDs and truck details.
Weight tickets come into play only on military moves. If your military move needs them, we can provide them. Civilian Arkansas moves aren't weighed. We handle PPM moves (you arrange the move and the government reimburses you), retiree moves and government-arranged shipments.
Razorback Move-In and Other Campus Weeks
The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville moves students in during mid-August, and apartment complexes near campus and Dickson Street book loading times well ahead. The University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas State in Jonesboro and Harding in Searcy have their own August rushes. Fall home games in Fayetteville jam the roads around campus on Saturdays, so we route deliveries away from game days when we can.
Texarkana: One City, Two States
State Line Avenue runs right down the middle of Texarkana. A house on the west side is in Texas; a house a block east is in Arkansas. Moving from Texarkana, Texas to Texarkana, Arkansas is technically an interstate move, even if it's only a few streets, and federal rules apply to it. Give us the full street address so the paperwork is right.
Arkansas Paperwork After the Move
- Driver's license: Arkansas expects new residents to get an Arkansas license within 30 days.
- Vehicle registration: you have 60 days to title and register a vehicle you bring from Texas. The Department of Finance and Administration handles it at local revenue offices, and parts of it can be done online.

Why does a move to Fort Smith take the long way through Oklahoma?
It doesn't add to your bill. The cubic-foot rate for your route covers the drive, and the fastest truck route to Fort Smith and Northwest Arkansas runs through eastern Oklahoma.
How much does it cost to move to Arkansas?
It depends on how many cubic feet you're moving and what you add, such as packing or crating. Long-distance moves start at $1,200, and you'll get a binding written price after a Zoom survey, phone quote or, in Dallas-Fort Worth, an in-person survey.
Can you get furniture down to a lake house in Hot Springs?
Usually, yes. Photos of the driveway and stairs help us send the right crew size and plan the carry.

No. We price by cubic feet. Weight tickets are only part of military moves, and we can provide them when one needs them.
My Bentonville closing might slip. Can you hold my things?
Yes. Storage in transit keeps your tagged shipment until the house is ready, then we deliver from the same inventory. Storage in transit is held in Texas, at our Fort Worth or Houston location. The first 30 days are free; after that, it's billed monthly.
What coverage comes with the move?
Released value protection is included on every move at no extra charge. It's the carrier's basic liability under federal rules, 60 cents per pound per article, and it's moving coverage, not insurance. Full value replacement, which covers repair, replacement or a cash settlement, is available through Baker International; Condor doesn't sell full value protection itself. Claims can be filed for nine months after delivery, and we help you through them.
Do you move from Arkansas back to Texas?
Yes. Northwest Arkansas to DFW and Little Rock to Houston are both regular moves for us.
